The GCSE Geography course involves the study of tectonic landforms such as volcanoes; and the impacts of tourism. To help the students gain a deeper understanding of how these processes work in the real world the geography department is offering a trip to Sorrento, Italy in the Spring term of 2017 just before the Easter school holidays. The trip will depart on Wednesday 5th April and return on Sunday 9th April 2017.
The students will get a coach from school to London and then board a flight to Naples airport and stay in the town of Sorrento. Activities will include a visit to the ancient Roman city of Pompeii; a visit to Mount Vesuvius; a coach tour along the Amalfi coastal road; a visit to a working Mozzarella farm; and a tour to study evidence of volcanic activity in Solfatara. The cost of the trip is £595 per student. This cost includes:
Flights
Coach travel to/from airport and within Italy
Accommodation
All Meals
All excursions
Travel insurance
There are 40 available spaces for this trip. Therefore to make it as fair as possible the names of students who hand in permission slips and deposits will be drawn at random from a ballot. If you wish your child to be considered for the trip please return the permission slip with a deposit of £100. The deadline to return permission slips is Tuesday 1st November. If your child is not selected in the ballot then this deposit will be refunded.
To make it easier and quicker to refund students not attending, we will only accept cheques or cash for the deposit. Please take the forms and money/cheques to Mrs Shepherd in the concourse between 08.45 am and 09.05 am.
Please note that your son/daughter will need to have a valid passport and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to travel. Therefore if they wish to travel, please apply for this as soon as possible.
