A RESOLUTION honoring Linda McClanahan upon winning the American Farm Bureau Federation's Young Farmer and Rancher "Excellence in Agriculture" Award.
WHEREAS, the American Farm Bureau Federation's Young Farmer and Rancher "Excellence in Agriculture" Award honors young farmers and ranchers who do not derive the majority of their income from an agricultural operation, but who contribute and grow through their agricultural involvement, their leadership, and their participation in Farm Bureau and other organizations; and
WHEREAS, at the American Farm Bureau Federation's 95th annual convention in San Antonio, Texas, Linda McClanahan was presented with this distinguished award. Ms. McClanahan is a Mercer County extension agent for agriculture and natural resources. A tireless advocate for agriculture and its many benefits, she produces a daily radio program on WHBN, writes an article each week for The Harrodsburg Herald, and offers her expertise as a guest columnist in the Mercer County Cattlemen's Association newsletter; and
WHEREAS, as the winner of this national competition, Ms. McClanahan was presented with her choice of either a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado or a 2014 GMC Sierra, and a paid registration to the 2014 Young Farmer and Rancher Leadership Conference in Virginia Beach, Virginia; and
WHEREAS, this honorable body commends those young Kentuckians who show exemplary work and effort to make their communities better. Linda McClanahan is one such Kentuckian, and for the impact she has had on the agricultural future of Mercer County, for the passion she has displayed for her work, and for the indelible impact she has made on her community and this Commonwealth, she is duly and rightfully honored;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
Section 1. The House of Representatives hereby honors Linda McClanahan for winning the American Farm Bureau Federation's Young Farmer and Rancher "Excellence in Agriculture" Award and wishes her the best of luck in all her future endeavors.
Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Linda McClanahan.
Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Representative Kim King for delivery.
