A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Juanita Brown Compton.
WHEREAS, Juanita Brown Compton was a native daughter of the Commonwealth, born in McDowell, Kentucky, on October 7, 1930, to the late Willie Brown and Lena Vance Brown; and
WHEREAS, Juanita Brown Compton was a compassionate and generous anchor in her community, using her kind and humble spirit to bring joy to the lives of many; and
WHEREAS, Juanita Brown Compton was a beloved matriarch to her family and the loving wife of 51 years to the late T.J. Compton; the devoted mother of Susan E. Compton and Bonita Compton; the proud grandmother of Justin B. Newsome; and a cherished sister, adored aunt, and faithful friend; and
WHEREAS, Juanita Brown Compton was the epitome of strength, valiantly fighting the ills of cancer and overcoming countless obstacles throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, on January 24, 2013, Juanita Brown Compton resolved to fight no more, departing this earthly existence and going home to eternal rest; and
WHEREAS, Juanita Brown Compton leaves her family and community in solemn mourning, and will forever be celebrated for her loving kindness, compassionate heart, and dedicated commitment to service;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
Section 1. The Senate expresses its most profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Juanita Brown Compton, and extends its deepest sympathy to her beloved family and friends.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory, honor, and gratitude for the life of Juanita Brown Compton.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Susan E. Compton, 409 Bellefonte Princess Road, Ashland, Kentucky 41101; and Bonita Compton, Floyd County Schools, 106 North Front Avenue, Prestonsburg, Kentucky 41653.
