I sent 2 of the Volunteer/Mentor Application forms that need to be completed and returned for our records for anyone coming to have lunch with your child, helping in the classroom, or chaperoning a school field trip on Monday. Let me know if you need more for other family members.
Language Arts:In Handwriting the children have been learning, about letter spacing and proper strokes for lower case letters that are tall this week: f, b, l, and t. They are really progressing nicely with using the lines on the paper to uniformly size their letters! Thanks for your help at home with encouraging the use of correct letter strokes when writing.

Social Studies:In our Scholastic News, we talked about the job of the author and illustrator, Kevin Henkes. They read about how his work habits and the steps in the book making process. Then, we looked at the many different books that he has written and illustrated. With Ms. Cox, they discussed how they are special and how we are alike and different.
Science: We read in our Science books about our senses, then we did a sort to match which sense would be used to help us know about the items pictured. Next week, we will start a unit about the life cycle of butterflies. Over the weekend look for Monarch caterpillars and milkweed to send in for us to watch to see the life cycle. Please do not send any caterpillars to school in a glass container. Thanks!
