Kirkcaldy and District Quiz League

Minutes of Meeting: 1.00 p.m. Sunday 8th May 2016.

Teams represented: Betty Nicol’s “Z” , Feuar’s, Harbour Bar, Man “I” The Rock “A”, Man “I” The Rock “B”, St. Clair Tavern.

Absent: Benarty Tavern and Brodie’s.

The teams were advised that Hugh had been paid £500 from League funds for supplying the questions for last season and was still due an amount for expenses and this year’s Honorarium.

The next piece of business was to make the draw for this year’s League Cup, now known as the Jack Watt Memorial Trophy. With the help of the assembled teams the draw was as follows. The eight teams were split into two groups, Group A and Group B with four teams in each group.

Group A: May 30th: Man “i” The Rock “A” v Harbour Bar. Benarty Tavern v St. Clair Tavern

Jun 6th: Harbour Bar v Benarty Tavern. St. Clair Tavern v Man “I” The Rock “A”

Jun 13th: Man “I” The Rock “A” v Benarty Tavern. Harbour Bar v St. Clair Tavern

Group B. May 30th: Feuar’s Arms v Man “I” The Rock “B”. Brodie’s v Betty Nicol’s “Z”

Jun 6th: Man “I” The Rock “B” v Brodie’s. Betty Nicol’s “Z” v Feuar’s Arms

Jun 13th: Feuar’s Arms v Brodie’s. Man “I” The Rock “B” v Betty Nicol’s “Z”

The winners of Group A will be at home to the winners of Group B in the final on June 20th. In the event of a tie the team with the better scratch score will qualify.

It was confirmed that the Summer Cup would be held at Styx on Monday June 27th after I had been to the venue in the last couple of weeks.

The assembled teams expressed a concern that our Treasurer (Mungis) had not attended a meeting for some time and that financial matters could not be discussed at meetings. I informed the teams of the current balance of the League’s Bank Account.

Jimmy Fitzsimons from The Man “I” The Rock “A” suggested that a Special General Meeting should be held. The assembled teams agreed to this and the meeting was arranged for Sunday 5thJune at the Harbour Bar.

However I met Mungis later that day and he reminded me that any such meeting can only be held following written representation at least seven days afterwards. Consequently the meeting cannot take place on that date as there was no written representation. I apologise for this and I will attempt to inform teams about this cancellation.

In due course I will inform teams about the next regular meeting which will be held on either 12th or 19th June at the Harbour Bar.
