Please take some time to review these RIMS Facts before your next visit to a RIMS Chapter.
DESCRIPTION:The Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. (RIMS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the practice of risk management, a discipline that protects physical, financial and human resources. The Society was founded in 1950 as the National Insurance Buyers Association (NIBA). NIBA was renamed the American Society of Insurance Management (ASIM) in 1955. The present name was adopted in 1975.
MEMBERSHIP:RIMS represents nearly 4,000 industrial, service, nonprofit, charitable and governmental entities. The Society serves over 9,600 individuals responsible for risk management and insurance functions in 81 chapters across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Japan. RIMS Members are kept informed of what’s happening on the leading edge of the risk management discipline in every sector of the economy.
PEER NETWORK:The cornerstone of risk managers’ peer-group interaction is RIMS’ 81 local chapters. Here, in regular meetings, risk managers exchange ideas and engage in networking with other local companies and industry counterparts. Chapters are the scene of social, educational, and civic activities. Local chapters also team up to sponsor Regional RIMS Conferences, which extend networking opportunities even further.
RIMS membership also facilitates contact with a broad array of service providers in the insurance industry, with academicians, with regulators, with elected officials, as well as with subject matter specialists and technicians of every stripe.
