Monday 10 General Assessment & Intake Training

8:30a.m - 4:30p.m. Presented by: Joe Hasler, Dani Vince - CODAC, Sandy Loomis - SEABHS, Cyndi Deines - CPSA

This session provides a detailed overview of the strengths-based assessment and service planning process. This training is for people becoming a clinical liaison, as well as for anyone interested in learning this new process.

Tuesday 11 Bridging the Information Gap: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders and

Presented by: Teresa Kellerman - FAS Community Resource Center

Together, we'll develop solutions to the barriers which prevent us from connecting families, providers and policy makers as we strive to help people affected by alcohol and other drugs during pregnancy. Learn the invisible symptoms of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders and their effects on children and adults.

Wednesday 12 Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities in Arizona

This presentation will provide an overview of the services and mandates of the Arizona Center

for Disability Law. The role of mental health advocacy and how the Center may be able to assist your clients with other disability related problems will be discussed.

Wednesday 12 Arizona Vision and the Twelve Principles Presented by: Jim Cates - CPSA

1:30p.m. - 4:30p.m. This interactive workshop is designed to give participants an in depth and practical understanding

of the Arizona Vision, 12 Principles and Child & Family Teams.

Thursday 13 * Crisis Intervention Presented by: Dick Janney - SAMHC

10:00a.m. - 12:00p.m. Participants will learn about a model of crisis intervention and how it can be used as a “beginning” towards a successful service and recovery plan. t

Tuesday 18 Cruelty in Common: Animals, People & Violence

10:00a.m. - 12:00p.m. Presented by: Marsh Myers - Humane Society of Southern Arizona

Information about animal cruelty and its link to interpersonal violence such as physical assault,

homicide and child molestation will be provided. Understand the seriousness of animal cruelty and the tools to intervene when necessary.

Wednesday 19 ASAM 201 Presented by: Robert Moore - CPSA

1:00p.m. - 4:30p.m. This interactive session is intended for clinicians and case managers who participate in the placement

of clients being treated for substance use disorders. Using special tools based on the A.S.A.M. PPC-

2R, participants are introduced to concepts of Risk Assessment and Intensity of Service.

Friday 21 BHT Enhanced Assessment Training

8:30a.m - 4:30p.m. Presented by: Ryan Blanton, Al Samorano - COPE

This training will cover strengths-based clinical interviewing, psychiatric mental status examinations,

DSM-IV-TR criteria and service planning. This part of the assessment training is needed for Behavioral Heath Technicians to become a clinical liaison.
