JTHG Partnership Profile

The Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership (JTHG) is a non-profit, four-state partnership dedicated to raising awareness of the unparalleled American heritage in a region running from Gettysburg, PA through Maryland and Harpers Ferry, WV to Jefferson's Monticello in Albemarle County, VA. Congress recognized the JTHGin 2008 as the 38thNational Heritage Area.

Annual Conference Profile

The Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership’s Annual Conference provides members of our 350 partnering organizations an opportunity to review the accomplishments of the past year and participate in the planning of new initiatives. The Annual Conference also provides educational workshops to explore the many facets of the Journey including: engaging youth/students in the national history found in the region, economic trends in heritage tourism, grant writing and fundraising, African-American and other minority heritage, sustainable local agriculture, and more.

Requirements

Speaker considerations are based on the ability to provide a 75-minute educational workshop on one of the following topics below. Your workshop description should include how it is inherently related to the Journey Through Hallowed Ground National Heritage Area.

3. Education

  • New Trends in Engaging school groups and tomorrow’s leaders

  • Beyond the textbooks: using historic events, sites and landscapes to teach science and math

4. Tourism

  • Trends in New Media Marketing
  • Certified Tourism Ambassador / How Customer Service Creates Increased Income
  • How Collaborative Marketing of your destination in the JTHG NHA opens new markets
  • Plans for the Sesquicentennial Commemoration and beyond

  • Influence and Impact of African-Americans, Native Americans, Hispanics in the JTHG National Heritage Area

Timeline

  • November 15, 2012:Speaker proposals and supporting materials due to Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership.
  • December 9, 2012: The Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership will begin contacting speakers regarding the status of your proposal.

Speaker Terms and Conditions

  • Presenters must register for the conferenceeven if you are only coming for your workshop. No exceptions. Presenters areoffered a reduced registration fee of $40. This includes the continental breakfast, the Plenary Session and lunch. The JTHG Partnership does not reimburse expenses or pay speakers for educational workshop sessions.
  • Registration and attendance at, or participation in, the Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership’s meetings and other activities constitutes an agreement by the speaker/registrant to JTHG’s use and distribution of the attendee’s image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions and audiotapes of such events and activities.
  • The JTHG Partnership reserves the right to edit title, description, and bios as needed.
  • The JTHG Partnership will provide a screen and projector for audiovisual needs. Speakers are required to bring their own laptops. Our conference venue is PC based. MAC users should have the appropriate connecting cables.
  • By submitting a proposal to be considered an educational workshop presenter, you agree to the above terms and conditions.
