Purpose
This qualification is awarded to people who have demonstrated competence in tree felling in a commercial forest harvesting operation.
The certificate recognises the skills of the professional tree faller including the felling of trees safely and in a manner that maximises the yield from the forest by using techniques that minimise breakage and wastage, and facilitate extraction. The elective units allow for professional career development in forest harvesting management, including environmental management.
The qualification builds on skills from the National Certificate in Forestry (Harvesting) (Level 3) [Ref: 0704) and may lead on to the National Certificate in Forestry (Operations Management) [Ref: 0834], the National Certificate in Forestry (Business Management) [Ref:0820] and/or the National Diploma in Forestry (Forest Management) (Level 6) [Ref:0232].
