Student Athlete Nomination Form /
IMPORTANT NOTES.
To be considered by the Student Sport Ireland’s High Performance Committee to partake in the 2014 World University Championships Irish student athletes must –
1.Be eligible to partake in a FISU World University Championship, meaning
1.1They must meet FISU’s regulations with regard to eligibility – these regulations are listed in a separate section below.

2.FULLY complete (by COMPUTER) a Student Athlete Nomination Form for their sport (see subsequent pages) – a soft / email copy (MS Word format) of this form is available from the Student Sport Ireland web site.
3.Print off a hardcopy of the completed Student Athlete Nomination Form, sign the form themselves and have the relevant section signed and stamped by the Sports Officer / Athletic Union President of their university / college / institute.
4.FULLY complete (in BLOCK CAPITALS) “Section 1” of a hardcopy of the FISU Certificate of Academic Eligibility.
5.Have their university / college / institute Registrar’s Office complete, sign and stamp “Section 2” of the same hardcopy of the FISU Certificate of Academic Eligibility.
6.Leave “Section 3” of the same hardcopy of the FISU Certificate of Academic EligibilityBLANK. The Student Sport Ireland office shall complete Section 3 upon return of this form to the office.
7.Return the signed and stamped hardcopy of the Student Athlete Nomination Form and the FISU Certificate of Academic Eligibility, along with 2 (two) passport sized photos and 2 clear photocopies of the main / photo page of their passport to the Student Sport Ireland office.
8.Return an unsigned and unstamped soft / email copy of the Student Athlete Nomination Form to
OTHER NOTES.
1.Nominations received after the relevant sport’s closing date shall NOT be accepted.
2.Incomplete nominations will be returned.
3.Submitting a nomination to Student Sport Ireland for consideration does not guarantee that a student athlete shall be ratified to compete at a Championship.
4.Shortly after the closing date Student Sport Ireland shall consider all complete nominations received from eligible Irish student athletes. Student Sport Ireland shall ratify only those deemed suitably qualified to compete at the Championship. Student Sport Ireland’s decision on all ratification issues is final.
5.The Student Sport Ireland office shall subsequently notify the appointed Team Manager / Head Coach of the outcome of the ratification process.
6.Each competitor ratified by Student Sport Ireland to partake in the Championship may be asked to make a personal contribution (amount to be determined) towards the cost of his or her participation. This amount MUST be paid in full to Student Sport Ireland BEFORE departure to the competition. Non-payment of this contribution will result in the student athlete’s entry to participate at the Championship being withdrawn.
7.Further information concerning selection procedures will be available at a later date.
8.Please retain copies of all forms for your own reference.
FISU ELIGIBILITY REGULATIONS
5.2 Participation.
5.2.1Only the following may participate as competitors in a FISU Championship:
(a)students who are officially registered for and pursuing a full-time course of study at a university or similar institute whose status as a university is recognised by the appropriate national academic authority of their country;
(b)former students of the institutions mentioned in (a) who have obtained their academic degree or diploma in the year preceding the event.
5.2.3All competitors must satisfy the following conditions:
(a)be a national of the country they represent;
(b)be at least 17 and less that 28 years of age on January 1st in the year of the event.
STUDENT SPORT IRELAND ELIGIBILITY REGULATIONS
Student Sport Ireland currently applies the following regulations (in addition to the FISU regulations) when selecting representative teams and individuals to participate in FISU competitions:
(1)Astudentmustbefullyregisteredandholdastudentcardforthe institution with which they are internally registered.
(2)Students must be a national of the country they represent.
(3)Studentsmustbeatleast17yearsandlessthan28yearsofageon January 1stin the year of the event.
(4)Studentsmustbepursuingacourseofstudythatisequivalentto60 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits per annum in Ireland or 120 UK Academic credits per annum in Northern Ireland or that leads to anawardrankedataminimumofLevel6ontheNQAIFramework (National Qualification Authority of Ireland).
(5)The academic year shall be defined as October to September. Students in anyinstitutionwithanacademiccalendarnotrunningconcurrentlywith this will be eligible for the academic year during which they enter and any subsequentacademicyearsdepending on the E.C.T.S. value oftheir course.
(6)Students will be eligible for competition under the year of grace rule if they have obtainedtheiracademicqualificationintheyear(calendaryear) preceding the event.
There is no need to return Pages 1 and 2 above with your Nomination Form!
