COUNCIL MEETING

August 3, 2017

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Beld at 7:00 PM.

Ron made a motion to accept the July, 2017 minutes as presented. Lesa seconded and the motion was passed.

POLICE REPORT:

There was a stolen bike from a Strathmoor garage, but no incidences in Kingsley.

There will be several policemen retiring from the force between August and October, so response times for Louisville Metro police may increase. Lt Cabrera recommended we rely on his services as much as possible.

ATTORNEY’S REPORT:

Steve will check on the lawsuit concerning the non-payment of taxes and will report back to the Mayor and commissioners electronically before the next meeting.

TREE BOARD REPORT:

A tree removal permit application was received from:

James Thomas 2503 Kings Hwy Back yard dying Sycamore

Steve reviewed the permit and found it to be in compliance with the city ordinance.

A tree removal permit application will be received from:

Ernie Abshire 2385 Tyler Lane Back yard dying Ash tree

Beryl made a motion to approve both applications, pending receipt of the hardcopy from Ernie Abshire. Ron seconded and the motion was passed.

Ron made a motion to allow Beryl to spend up to $35 for a smaller Tree City USA flag. Chris seconded and the motion was passed. Beryl did not vote.

Chris made a motion to allow Beryl to spend up to $200 for trimming the viburnum and yews in the park. Ron seconded and the motion was passed. Beryl did not vote.

A motion was made by Chris to pay the regular and special bills as shown. Beryl seconded and the motion was passed. Ron and Lesa did not vote.

BUILDING PERMIT REQUESTS:

Building permit applications were received from:

John Huckleberry 2657 Kings Hwy Replace front walkway/retaining wall

Jerome Schrodt 2548 Kings Hwy Rebuild front porch and walkway

Doug Hawkins 2644 Kings Hwy Remodel the house

Steve reviewed the applications and found them to be in compliance with the city ordinance. Ron made a motion to approve the applications. Chris seconded and the motion was passed.

NEW BUSINESS:

Ron made a motion to allow Lesa to spend up to $90 on postcards for the picnic. Beryl seconded and the motion was passed. Lesa did not vote.

Beryl made a motion to move $50,000 from a Money Market account into a CD for a higher rate of interest. Lesa seconded and the motion was passed.

COMMISSIONER’S CONCERNS:

Beryl- She has drafted a note that could be given to residents that parked in no parking zones, or have shrubbery blocking traffic signs. She will email this note to other commissioners for their agreement.

Lesa-Presented an updated Picnic Follow up Report—her plan is to reduce the quantity of brats and beans based on leftovers last year, and substituting lemonade, water and tea for soft drinks.

CLOSING:

Lesa made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Chris seconded and the meeting was adjourned at 8:55 PM.
