World Book Day: Is Thursday 6 March and we are having our own big, happy, booky day of reading:

  • We will DROP EVERYTHING AND READ for 15 minutes on Thursday 6 March. A bell will ring at 10:30am and we will all ‘all down tools’ for 15 minutes to enjoy reading. Please make sure you have got something to read.
  • Take part in an exciting event: The Commonwealth Games World Book Day Challenge. There will be a number of challenges, all focused on The Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2014 and which will include puzzles, quizzes and games. Each challenge will have a ‘sports coach’, ie a member of staff, who will cheer you on. Sign up in the library to take part.
  • Win the competition: Which sports personality would you enjoy reading about and why?

Would yours beMike Tyson, Maradona or Tiger Woods for overcoming the odds and rising from poverty to be the greatest in their respective fields?Or, someone else?

Tell all for World Book Day: Hand in to Mrs Toonen and see if you win a prize.

Royal Air Force Cadets: Anyone interested in joining the Royal Air Force Cadets should attend a presentation on Tuesday 25 February in B38 after school (3:35pm) for more information. (KS)

S1 Pupil Council: A reminder that we are meeting during period 6 today, Monday. Please bring the results of your consultation on Teaching and Learning Policy and Values from your registration class. Remember to register and ask your period 6 teacher first. (TD)

S1 Novelties Book Group: Will meet at lunchtime on Wednesday, in the library at 1.10pm. (ST)

S3 Holland Trip: Meeting on Wednesday at 1:15pm in B31. There will be number of important announcements being made regarding dates and passports. (CR)

S1/S2 Cookery Club: Cookery club will run on Tuesday night this week from 3.20pm to 4.20pm. It will cost £1.00 all those who are interested must sign up in the home economics department by Monday night. (KA)

S2 Champions in Schools Programme: Could all pupils who have been nominated to take part in the programme attend a short meeting in the dance studio today, Monday at 1.30pm. (AG)

S4 & S5 - Youth Leadership Award: Are you interested in developing your leadership skills? The Rotary Youth Leadership award is an exciting programme for young people aged 15 to 18yrs. The programme takes place over the course of a week in July 2014 and is held at the Abernethy Outdoor centre and involves intensive activities which are designed to challenge candidates both mentally and physically. Activites cover such things as canoeing, hill walking, mountain bike cross country riding, rock climbing as well as working in teams. Having returned your application form, you will then be invited to attend an interview lead by members of the Elgin and District Rotary Club. If you are interested in attending this, please collect an information pack and application form from your Guidance Teacher or Mrs Grant. Applications should be returned to Mrs Grant by Wednesday 5March. (KJG)

S4/5/6: Art & Design: Any pupil who would like extra time, support or advice on their written work for National, Int or Higher courses please come to Room B30 (Mrs Templeton’s) on a Tuesday lunchtime from 1pm. You are welcome to bring your lunch and use this time to complete any written homework. (KT)

Modern Apprenticeship Programme 2014: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary are currently recruiting an Apprentice Electrical and Mechanical Engineer. Applicants must already possess the qualifications at the time of application i.e. a minimum of 5 Standard Grades at 1,2,or 3 or Intermediate 2 Grades at A or B in Maths, English, Physics, a Technical subject and one other subject.
