HOWELL ROTARY CLUB DONATES $15K TO UNITED WAY OF LIVINGSTON COUNTY;

FUNDS RAISED BY TOUR DE LIVINGSTON

HOWELL, MI.---The Howell Rotary Club, which was founded in 19, donated $15,000 to the United Way of Livingston County yesterday Nov. 27, 2008, during a meeting of the United Way Board of Directors.

Kim Dane, current Howell Rotary president and regional vice president of Tangor Outlet Malls, led a contigent of Howell Rotarians on hand for the presentation including Greg Clum, Pat Convery, Cliff Miller, Renae Behr, Sandie Cortez, Peter Bowen and Ron Hingst.

The funds were raised by the Howell Rotary during the Tour de Livingston, bicycle ride, held in October which attracted 300 riders in its inaugeral year.

“Our Rotary Club wanted to put on a signature event, and we hit a home run with the Tour de Livingston,” Dane said. “Our entire Howell Rotary Membership got behind the event, and thanks to our corporate sponsors such as Citizens Insurance, it was a financial success.”

“With the tough economic climate in Michigan, the donation by the Howell Rotary is a godsend,” explained Jeanne Clum, Livingston County United Way development director.
The Tour de Livingston started at Mount Brighton, and offered riders three different routes totaling 100 miles around the country.

The Howell Rotary meets Noon, every Monday, at the St. Joseph Livingston County Hospital Community Room. Additional information is available at www.howellrotary.org or by calling 734-662-5544.
