Job Profile: Deputy Supervisor

Responsible for: Responsible for offering high quality preschool education in an Outstanding setting to 3 and 4 year olds using the EYFS and the Oxfordshire Tracking Tool

Supervise the smooth running of the morning group as part of a small management team

Hours: 19.25 hours per week (Term Time) Hourly rate £9.57

plus 5 weeks holiday pay

Monday, Tuesday (8am-4pm), Wednesday (8am-12.15pm)

Key Tasks:

·  Work with children following the EYFS and Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundations Stage.

·  Team work

·  Liaise with Parents/carers

Main Duties:

·  Support Manager by supervising sessions and with organising planning.

·  Draw up and supervise the daily program of preschool and activities and events.

·  Lead sessions, reporting to manager

·  Act as key person to a group of children, liaising closely with parents/carers and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met.

·  To teach children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation.

·  To train in Specialist Safeguarding and act as an additional Safeguarding Officer for the morning group.

·  Support all staff and engage with the team.

·  Attend staff meetings (including evening meetings)

·  Provide cover for Manager as necessary

·  Attend in-service training courses and other meetings as required.

·  Assess and keep a written of achievement on file on your key children, for parents/carers;

·  Work with parents/carers of special needs children to give full integration in the Setting;

·  To be flexible within working practices of the Setting. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the Setting, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc.;

·  Recording accidents in the accident book

·  Look upon the Setting as a “whole” where can your staff to areas be utilised, be constantly aware of the needs of children;

·  To respect the confidentiality of any information received

·  Train and act as safeguard officer

·  Take daily risk assessments

·  To liaise with management committee, Ofsted, social service, early years team, staff at St Nicolas school and other professionals as necessary, and ensure that all legal and statutory requirements are implemented, to provide reports as required.

·  The preparation and completion of activities to suit the child's stage of development;

·  To ensure the Setting of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development.

·  Follow Health & Safety regulations.

·  To be aware of the high profile of the Setting and to uphold its standards at all times.

Special Notes:

·  This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

·  Applicants must be prepared to disclose any convictions they may have, and any orders which have been made against them.

·  Probationary period of 3 months applies.
