SC4HSHA Meeting 11.17.16

Secretary’s Report/Reading of Previous Club’s Minutes- Sara J.- Jenny Ball is now a voting member. Carla K. motion to accept minutes, Jay S. second. Minutes pass.
Treasurer’s Report- Jeff G.- Angie H. asked Saddle Horse to pay $75 toward the Level 2 Kitchen Certification requirement and that Extension would pay the other $75. Brian P. asked if every club still had to have someone certified if they are working kitchen; Angie H. states yes- they have to have a level 1 every time the kitchen is open. Carla K. motion to pay for Angie’s class so that she can supervise the kitchen for all Saddle Horse events. Dale F. second. 1 abstain (Angie H.) Motion passes. Carla K. motion to pay remaining bills. Marti L. second. Motion Passed. Angie H. also stated that fairboard would submit gas bills for the winter every 3 months.
Extension- Jackie K.- Clarified that the class is required by state law. Jackie K. asked how the horse safety videos are watched. Dee C. stated it was at the last two education days & she does it at her March club meeting. Clubs are not asking Jackie K. for the videos any longer; Both Dee C. & Sara J. stated their clubs bought the videos. Jackie K. stated she has received questions about how many meetings are required before going to fair. Carla K., Dee C., and Sara J. all stated their clubs have it in their bylaws. Jackie K. states she thinks it is rare that this happens, but wants us to walk for it. Jackie K. states we must have a plan for her to sell the zero turn mower by next meeting. Jackie K. states she thinks our numbers were very low at fair and states that the committee chairpersons were upset because of how they were treated. There were 185 people at the 4H banquet. Carla K. asked about meeting for National 4H Week; Jackie K. stated they will be doing that. Danette S. asked about the academy classes; Jackie K. states Dr. Cole has not responded about the classes. Dee C. states more than one kid can ride the same lesson horse in different divisions. The people would not have to be siblings. Nandini V. asked if the membership should email Dr. Cole; Jackie K. states that she would rather collect all of them. Sara J. asked Jackie K. if she could find out if the state would let us come up with our own Academy Division rules; she said she would check.
Committees:
Awards- Sara J. & Dee C.- Sara J. passed out buckles; Dee C. passed out ribbons. Sam O. motioned to buy a belt buckle for members who qualified in county and also went to state for groom & clean. Carla K. second. 2 opposed. Motion passed. The rule will be addressed in rules committee. Awards still needs a chairperson. Carla K., Lynn S., Sam O., Sara J. & Amanda D. are all talking about possibly working together; Sara J. is not allowed to store ribbons at her house.

Rules- Sara J.- First meeting is Tuesday December 6 at the Panera on Howe Rd. at 7pm. Bylaws will be the first thing we work on.

Open Show- Sam O. Carla K. asked if there are dates. May 6, June 3, July 8, Aug 19, Sept 9.
Fair- Carla K., Marti L., & Lynn S.
Junior Leaders- Sue S.- December 29, 6p, at SkyZone Hudson for current members. First regular meeting is Jan 15 at 6pm at the fairgrounds. New members must attend to be considered for horse camp. 13 year olds must be approved by Rachel S.
There is no December Saddle Horse meeting.
SC4HSHA cannot use the admin building on Jan 12 for meetings because of a rental.
Announcements:
Brad W. is having surgery tomorrow & asks for everyone’s prayers.
Junior Fairboard President is Kiley G. & VP is Jordan S. Fish Fry & Silent Auction is Feb 10 at 6pm at the fairgrounds. There are also chicken nuggets.
Dee C. asked if we would like to do the educational fun day. Need input for locations. Sam O. thinks we need to pick a date soon. Carla K. states the arena was too spread out. Sue S. states that Junior Leaders have multiple groups in the admin building. Sam O. states we could use the arena if we make a schedule & have structure. Sara J. said beginning of February would be a good date. Sam O. states Feb 4 is the first weekend in February. Mike H. states that there will be limited dates on weekends.
Mike H. presented SC4HSHA with a list of the cost of repairs that SCAS did at the fairgrounds to show what was spent on the horse section of the fairgrounds. Mike H. stated that fairgrounds maintenance will meet in December. Asked Jay S. to forward a list of projects to them.
Angie H. states that Tues-Thurs the fair will close at 10pm, Saturday will close at 11p, Sunday at 6pm. No horses will be released before 6pm. They are proposing no triboards- can choose to do a triboard- there will still be a competition for ride passes if they turn one in. Want to require clubs to set up at the fall fest for all clubs next year. There were over 1000 people at fall fest this past year.
Mike H. states that all horses will be in Barn 10, Rabbits in Barn 6, and Dogs back in their building. If not all horses do not fit in Barn 10, then Barn 6 will be split with rabbits.
Sam O. asked for any books for BC Wranglers book drive. Grades K-8. She also asked for open show suggestions. Sam O. states there will be an OS committee meeting every month and she would like one person per club to attend OS meetings.
Fair & Open Show will meet December 8 at the fairgrounds. 7pm Fair, 8pm OS.
