Madlax in Canada: Partnership with APEX Lacrosse Club Shows a Commitment to Growing Sport Globally

McLean, VA. November 20, 2013 - Madlax announced a new partnership with the Canadian elite lacrosse club, APEX, from Edmonton, Alberta further enhancing its well-known national lacrosse all-star program and brand while helping grow the game of lacrosse globally. APEX joins Madlax-Capital, Madlax-Florida and Madlax-California as regional lacrosse efforts that make up the Madlax National All-Star Program.

The partnership between Madlax and Apex works perfectly. Apex players are now able to ‘guest play’ anytime on Madlax Teams and the top Apex players can be nominated and play for the Madlax National Teams, considered some of the most competitive teams in the US between the 2014-2019 high school graduation years. Madlax gains the advantage by having Canadian players added to an already very talented roster to compete in all-star and recruiting tournaments. Madlax plans to put the best players from all regional programs blending Canadians from Alberta with the best from the DC Capital area, Florida and California. It should make it easy on college coaches who are scouting knowing that Madlax has pulled all the best from around the US and Canada and put them on one National Team roster for each graduation class.

In Canada, Box Lacrosse is far more popular right now than field lacrosse. This partnership will enable even more Canadians greater opportunity to be seen by American college coaches. It is a dream of many young Canadian boys to attend an American college on scholarship to play lacrosse. Therefore, this partnership should attract more athletes from Alberta to field lacrosse and help grow the game globally. Since Madlax is a well-recognized and respected lacrosse field program in the US players from Edmonton will quickly figure out if they want to play college lacrosse in the US the best way is to play for Apex and then with Madlax. Madlax has placed over 375 players in to US college programs since establishing the club in 1999. Canadians are ‘hot’ recruits by college coaches right now and just about every D1 roster has a few Canadians on it today.

Apex Lacrosse Club Co-Founder & Co-Director, Jamey Bowen, a former Team Canada field player in the 1998 World Games and former NLL - National Lacrosse League Box Lacrosse player says, “We are thrilled with our new partnership with Madlax. Our club isvery eager to help grow the Madlax brand in westernCanada. Just as important,we are very excited that our players willhave even greater opportunities to attend top tournaments and become part of the Madlax family.” Apex Directors will also make an effort to hold field lacrosse camps, clinics and tournaments sponsored in part by Madlax which should help grow the game locally and attract more players to Apex.

Madlax founder and owner, Cabell Maddux, adds, “Canada, and in particular western Canada, is one of the most explosive growth areas for field lacrosse so we are excited to help grow this great sport in that region. We have been focused on establishing a program there for years but searching for the right leadership. We could not be happier with the partnership with Rod Payne and Jamey Bowen, Directors of APEX LC, who are working hard to grow the sport in Edmonton. All the boys who are now ever part of Apex LC will be afforded the opportunity to play with and against the best players in the US on a true National Team in premier recruiting and all-star tournaments”.
