II. Chair's report for the 2017 Salt Lake, UT Conference
· 22 papers and 1 panel submitted
· 21 submissions accepted: 91% acceptance rate
· Submission History: 23 in 2016, 11 in 2015, 20 in 2014, 11 in 2013, 11 in 2012, 21 in 2011
· All papers reviewed blindly
· 2 rejected papers were unanimous “No” votes.

Ashley Archiopoli (Chair for 2018) takes over meeting
VIII. New Business
Move to have a $150 top student paper award and $50 toward discretionary funds.
· Voice vote: Ayes have it (unanimously)
Ashley Archiopoli moves to have a paper panel (of submitted abstracts) based on stigma since next year’s conference theme is Mindfulness.
· Suggested to maybe make it a Health Comm Pre-Conference instead.
· Bradley Adame and Ashley Archiopoli will look into contacting Gary Kreps and Linda Lederman
Heather Smith discusses desire to collaborate or put together a panel to talk about topics in health communication that are not currently being researched.
Kristen Everhart discusses desire to have a panel focused on applied aspects of health communication research. May not work if there are not contacts in the area of the conference.
Leah LeFebvre (Chair of the Interpersonal Division) wants to possibly collaborate with Health Comm Interest Group to bring in practitioners and have a joint applied panel. IPC division has some discretionary cash as well. Will reach out to Ashley Archiopoli after the conference.
Kristen Everhart discusses possibility of collaborating with GIFTS program of WSCA.
· Heather Smith says health communication is primed for a collaboration for GIFTS
· Kristen Everhart notes that health is working its way into the undergraduate interpersonal curriculum.
Planning for 2018 (Santa Clara, CA)
IX. Raffle
· $10 Starbucks gift card given to the winner, Ashely Elrich.
X. Elections
· Colter Ray nominated to serve two additional years as secretary
o Vote by acclimation.
o Colter Ray will serve as secretary for Santa Clara and Seattle
· Elissa Adame nominated to serve as co-chair for Santa Clara and chair for Seattle
o Vote by acclimation
o Elissa Adame voted as co-chair
