Product Development Industrial Engineer/Manufacturing Engineer/Supervisor 2006

A high-volume manufacturing plant, which fabricates and assembles switchboard and low voltage switchgear products.

·  Conducted time studies of a low voltage switchgear, and presented a synopsis of recommendations to Manufacturing Manager.

·  In charge of 17 employees in department, served as supervisor and Manufacturing Engineer, who trained staff while increasing production by 15%. Conducted Kaizen event and facilitated process improvements/5s team to eliminate non-value added steps.

·  Initiated streamlining the kanban process and provided support for a team of internal German engineering consultants. Performed a capacity analysis for streamlining the fabrication department and presented conclusions to German consultants.

The Vistawall Group Terrell, Texas

Project Engineer 2005 – 2006

A high-volume manufacturing plant, which fabricates and assembles entrances, storefronts, window systems, SkyLights, and engineered wall systems for the architectural industry. Their client’s are located throughout the world including Target, Wal-mart, Home Depot, commercial buildings, malls, schools, and shopping centers.

·  Served on a team of five engineers, who supported five plus facility groups, some of which included maintenance, tool and die, process maintenance, engineering, and office personnel.

·  Proposed a $600,000 layout project for Shanghai, China, plant to facilitate another product line. Included all utilities and best feasible layout using manufacturing cells for lean manufacturing.

·  Initiated lean manufacturing solutions in Custom Entrances that pinpointed quality issues, which if resolved had potential to increase production by millions. Motivated vice president, area supervisor, and other key managers to execute several conclusions.

·  Facilitated three process improvement teams which combined efforts saved the company over $50,000 in labor and materials.

·  Trained over 50 employees on lean manufacturing and personal protective equipment.

·  Conducted multiple time/motion studies of four different product lines. Collaborated with several team members to implement labor and cost savings while obtaining key Vistawall managers’ approval.

·  Designed a lift turntable to improve ergonomics and eliminated a step to manufacture standard doors.

·  Championed support from Department manager, supervisor, operators, process maintenance, and process improvement team in assisting in the design, implementation, and support of an additional control panel and work platform for a new purchased thermoformer. The work platform was ergonomically designed with a sliding/locking base to eliminate steps in setting up the thermoformer which dramatically increased production.

·  Worked extensively with a CNC programmer to update profile machining CNC database with new CAD-based software. Programmed over thirty sub programs and tested ten.

·  Reviewed and provided several Lock out/Tag out procedures for maintenance/tool and die.

Assistant Project Engineer/Coop, School Terms 2003 – 2003; 2004 – 2004

One 23-acre high-volume manufacturing plant with multiple assembly lines to produce residential air conditioning units within

the southwestern United States.

·  Served on a team of eight senior project engineers, who supported two plus facility groups, which included product lines, maintenance, model shop, engineering, and office personnel.

·  Developed prototype simulation model to perform a bottleneck analysis. Collaborated with several team members to implement the program and to obtain key Trane managers approval.

·  Performed several de-bottleneck analyzes using Access to reduce cycle time for six-sigma project and reduce waste (lean).

·  Performed a layout analysis which reduced the operators walking distance by half.

·  Co-managed a $300,000 roofing project involving two crew contractor companies; Also in charge of risk and safety management during scope of project.

·  Conducted material handling analysis for more than 26 commodities for assembling air conditioning units to eliminate material handling.

·  Worked with Suppliers and Procurement Dept. to streamline the Purchasing process for over $100,000 of supplies and equipment.
