CALLS TO ACTION FROM STARLEEN:
As the work part begins, be part of the stakeholders input. There will be meetings for policy development and they need our representation there.
HOPE Act passed, SUD Fed will respond.
SUD Fed is not too worried about the IVC Bill. The language was not ‘unhelpful-language’ and focused on streamlining . Biggest concern is that it will be overused--commitments without medical screenings.

Upcoming Speakers include DeDe Severino (July), and Nicole Singletary (August). Brainstorm for Recovery Month and after: APNC offered to help reach out as needed.

  • Not Present.

Coalition Report /
  • Policy Committee meeting multiple times a month.

PLLF /
  • Quarterly meetings and most recent was cancelled, revisiting purpose in this time.

Div. of MH/DD/SAS Report /
  • Still working on contracts for next year.

Prevention /
  • PPA is working to have prevention tracks at larger conferences
  • Just had first Coalition Summit – was a success!

Adolescent and Young Adult Recovery /
  • Recovery High Schools: Monarch Recovery High School meet every other Monday (June 18 @6:30 at Journey church)- need youth voice its currently missing (in recovery or ally)
  • Gearing up for Huston for CRC Conference

Div. of Vocational Rehabilitation /
  • Developing training for Brain Injury Treatment. Want to include session in training focused on addiction: looking for speaker.If you have suggestions reach out to Jim Swain.

  • Alcohol Drug Council hosting first ever Anne DoolenLuncheon
  • Karen Chapple: Coastal Horizons received SAMSHA grant for treating co-occurring disorders for reentry in New Hanover
  • Stepping Up: Kurtis Taylor and Kody Kinsley spoke. Working on finding facilitators to help figure out next steps
  • Bob Thomas: General Liability Insurance will not be renewed because of involvement with needle exchange. New quote over 4 times cost monthly of previous contract. Discussion on reaching out to different groups for support.
