Nomination packages are due by 5:00 pm, Monday, March 7th, 2015

Send to: Florentina Craciun, Michael Baker International, One Kaiser Plaza, Suite 1150, Oakland CA 94612. Materials received late or incomplete may not be accepted and will not be returned. Sorry, no exceptions.

What materials do I need to send?

This completed application in the following formats.

  • One (1) Electronic Copy on aCD or USB “thumb” drive. Label the CD/Drive with the nominee and category.
  • One (1) paper copy, bound.

For the electronic copy, place each of the following items in separate folders. For the paper copy, use tabs and/or dividers.

  • APPLICATION: The completed APA California Northern 2016 Planning Awards Application Form.
  • SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: One (1) page summary of the submission, or in the case of an individual, a one (1) page résumé.
  • AWARD CRITERIA: In two (2) pages maximum, explain how the submission specifically meets each criterion in the order listed under each award category. (See attached list of awards categories and critieria).
  • LETTER(S) OF SUPPORT: At least one (1) but no more than five (5) one-page letters in support of the submission from someone familiar with the nomination – who is notthe nominator or involved staff/consultant.
  • PROJECT OR PLAN: One (1) digital copy, in PDF format, of the plan or project for which the nomination is submitted. One (1) paper copy of plan or summary thereof.For awards for people or firms, provide appropriate narrative.
  • IMAGES: At least six (6) and preferably ten (10) digital images in JPEG format representative of the nomination, each with a clear explanatory captionon the CD/Drive. These will be used in Awards Ceremony for successful nominations.

All award submittals must be in compliance with the latest version of the APA California Northern Awards Program Policy.

NOMINATION SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS

1)The nomination application package consists of all of the following items, completed in accordance with all pertinent policies and rules:

  • APPLICATION: The completed APA California Northern 2016 Planning Awards Application Form (pages 1-3 of this document).
  • SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: One (1) page summary of the submission, or in the case of an individual, a one (1) page résumé.
  • AWARD CRITERIA: In two (2) pages maximum, explain how the submission specifically meets each criterion in the order listed under each award category.
  • LETTER(S) OF SUPPORT: At least one (1) but no more than five (5) one-page letters in support of the submission from someone familiar with the nomination – who is notthe nominator or involved staff/consultant.

The Fine Print

  • You may submit multiple project/plans or people/firms/agencies for different awards, but each project/plan/person/firm/agency may be entered in only one awards category or subcategory.
  • Specific program, projects, reports, processes, and ordinances may only be nominated for an APA California Northern award once.
  • Submissions lacking any submittal materials will be deemed incomplete, will not be considered, and will not be returned, however… submissions received before the deadline not meeting the requirements may be resubmitted before the deadline at the discretion of the APA California Northern Awards Co-Director. (In other words: incomplete submittals received close to the deadline of Monday March 7th at 5:00 p.m. are unlikely to receive an opportunity for resubmittal. Best to make sure your submittal is complete!)
  • We cannot return any nomination materials. If you ultimately plan to submit a nomination to the Chapter (State) Awards Program, you are strongly advised to retain a copy of all information submitted to the APA California Northern Awards Program.
  • Optional: Supplemental supporting materials, such as audio, video, or electronic presentation are optional and may be submitted at the discretion of the APA California Northern Awards Co-Director; however, the materials will not be distributed to the Jury unless six (6) sets are submitted. These materials should be succinct, given the limited time available for Jury deliberations.

  • All awards submittals must be shipped through a vendor that documents and guarantees delivery with proof of receipt, such as UPS, Federal Express, personal delivery, etc.
