2013-2014 Next Steps Diversity Challenge Final Report

The Next Steps Diversity Challenge aims to increase diversity in the pipeline to the legal profession. Through the Next Steps Diversity Challenge, young lawyer/law student organizations are encouraged to share information about existing projects and develop new programs for increasing diversity in the pipeline. Top three young lawyer/law student programs will be selected by mid-April and showcased at the May 2015 YLD Spring Conference in Tampa, FL. During the showcase program, the first, second and third place award recipients for both categories will be announced and awarded a subgrant.

Competition Guidelines:

1)Explicitly identify a Next Steps report recommendation to address/serve as a focal point for the project.

2)Develop and submit a detailed program plan including, but not limited to, the program purpose, proposed activity/ies, desired outcomes, target audience, and desired number of participants to Chisa Putman and Renee Lugo by November 1, 2014. This form serves as your coversheet and MUST accompany any materials submitted.

3)Submit a progress report on the program’s implementation (program date, program format, and other pertinent information) to Chisa Putman and Renee Lugo by January 17, 2015.

4)Complete program implementation by March 14, 2015.

5)Submit a final report giving activity dates, outcomes, audience member numbers, participant numbers, and proposed plans for expansion (with the subgrant award) to Chisa Putman and Renee Lugo by March 21, 2015.

6)Top programs will be selected and showcase participants notified by mid-April, 2015.
