GIFT AID DECLARATIONS

As a UK charity, the Scout Group can claim back from HM Revenue and Customs 25p for every £1 of subscriptions we receive from anyone registered for Gift Aid, at no additional cost to parents. In total, this is worth around £1000 extra to the Group each year and allows us to keep our subscriptions as low as possible.

We would be grateful if you could complete the attached Gift Aid declaration form which will allow us to treat your subscriptions as being paid under Gift Aid and claim back the tax. The form should be completed in a parent’s name, NOT the child’s.

I would draw your attention to the notes on the bottom of the form, and especially to Note1.

If you are paying your subscriptions by standing order, the person who completes the Gift Aid declaration MUST be named on the account from which subscriptions are paid.

It is easier if the form is completed in just one of the parents’ names. Should you choose to complete it in joint names, please indicate how much of the subscription is to be allocated to each parent, e.g. 50% each.

We understand that not everyone will pay sufficient tax to register their subscriptions for Gift Aid. If that is the case, or you do not wish to complete a declaration, please make a note to that effect on the form and return it to one of the leaders and we will know not to trouble you again.

If you have any queries, please speak to your sections leaders.

Thank you for your help.
