Boys Athletics FAQ
1. What sports are offered in Athletics?
This year ISMS Boys Athletics will offer Football, Basketball, Cross Country, Track, Tennis, and Soccer.

2. How many sports must my athlete try out for?
The athlete MUST try out for at least 2 sports. Middle School is the time to try all sports! You never know what sport you may end up loving!!
3. What if I am in band, choir, or theater? Can I still play?
YES! The Coaches work with Choir, Band, Theater, and all other sponsors to ensure the athlete can participate to their fullest in everything they are involved with.
4. What will I need to purchase for my son to be in Athletics?
A daily uniform consisting of maroon shorts, gray t-shirt, a bag, and a pair of sweats (which will be sold either at the end of the school year or during the summer) and a pair of Athletic Shoes. Kim’s Kloset in Keller will handle all of our athletic uniform purchases).
5. Is my son required to take a shower?
We definitely recommend showers, but there are times when we do not work as strenuously and a shower is not needed. Your son will need to make sure to have his own towel and deodorant.
6. What time do 7th Graders practice?
Football & Basketball tentatively 6:45 AM - 1st Period Athletics Class
Cross Country , Track, and soccer- after school until around 5:00 PM
Wrestling and swimming after school at designated high school (transportation provided by high school coaches)
7. When are games?
Football-Monday nights
Basketball- Mostly on Mondays and some tournaments on the weekend
Cross Country Meets- TBD
Track Meets- Thursdays
8. When is the Keller ISD Online registration with medical information and physical due?
Online registration is due the LAST WEEK of the current school year to your child’s PE Teacher. Here are the instructions for finding the online athletic information:
· Go to the KISD Website, scroll over Students and Families, and then select Athletics. Next, you will select required athletic E-Forms and proceed.
9. What time of year does each sport compete?
Football: August-November
Basketball: November-February
Cross Country: September-November
Track: February-April
Tennis: Fall and Spring season
Soccer: April-May
Wrestling: November-December
Swimming: April-May
10. Can my son play football and run Cross Country?
Yes! He will need to communicate with the Cross Country Coaches which days he will be attending practice (because he will be getting a lot of running during football practice he will not need to be at Cross Country practice daily).
11. What will my son do if he does not make a team, or does not try out for that current sport?
He will be participating in Off-Season work outs- getting ready for the next season. For example, during Football season, the boys in Off-Season will be working on Basketball Skills as well as conditioning (running, lifting weights, core work outs).
