The Big Stone City council met in regular session on Monday, January 6, 2014 meeting began at 7:00 p.m. with Mayor Wiik presiding. Roll Call: Athey, Hanson, Rabe, Gulley, and Baerwaldt. Absent: Henderson. Others present: William E. Coester, Donna Van Hout, Robert Athey, and Robert Goergen

The Pledge of Allegiance and the South Dakota State Pledge were recited. Motion to accept the minutes was made by Hanson and seconded by Gulley. All in favor, motion carried.

Motion to pay the presented claims was made by Hanson and seconded by
Gulley. Voting in favor: Athey, Hanson, Rabe, Gulley, and Baerwaldt. Motion carried.

Officer Goergen went over the expectations for the officers that were hired part-time. The officers include Bill Newstrand, Dan Bray, Clint Sova and Eric Burman. Goergen answered any questions the council had concerning equipment and training. He reported that the 2006 Dodge Durango has been serviced and is ready to use.

Mayor Wiik updated the Council on the grant for Chautauqua. The deadline will be August 1st.

Professional Services Agreement - Mr. Coester will contact the company again.

The Council is looking at installing a POS system in the Liquor Store. The Liquor store committee will meet and discuss the different options.

The City delivered letters to several properties that needed to be cleaned up. The Council did receive a letter concerning on of the properties in question. The council discussed the property and decided that there was too much damage. Other properties that had been contacted have been cleaning up.

The City of Big Stone received a check from Ottertail to help defray any additional cost the City may incur during the AQCS Project. A motion was made by Gulley and seconded by Baerwaldt to apply the money to the Police Support Services. Roll Call-voting yes: Henderson, Hanson, Athey, Rabe, Gulley and Baerwaldt.

The terms of Councilmembers Baerwaldt, Gulley and Athey will expire this May. The City election will be held April 8, 2014. Petitions may be picked up at the city office beginning January 31st.

Being no further business a motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Hanson and seconded by Baerwaldt. Motion carried.
