Regular Monthly SBDM Council Meeting

WMES Library

The West Marion Elementary School Council met at 5:00 pm in the school library

with the following members present on Tuesday, September 16, 2014.

(1) Sarah Hutchins (2) Cathy Mattingly (3) Kristi Peterson

(4) Paula Walston (5) Dawn Caldwell (6) Tammy Edlin

1.  Call to Order Paula Walston called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm.

2.  Opening Business a. Caldwell made a motion to approve the agenda and Peterson seconded the

motion.

b. Mattingly made a motion to approve the August minutes and Caldwell seconded the

motion.

c. Good News Report- First MAP testing complete and positive with the results.

c. Public Comment-Dawn Caldwell spoke on behalf of parents and addressed some

concerns with the silence in breakfast and lunch. Dawn will address parents with

support for the effort to reduce noise level.

3.  Budget Report Marsha Yates reviewed the budget and explained district activity funds.

Caldwell made a motion to accept the budget and Edlin seconded the motion.

4.  Review a. First reading of Extra-Curricular Activities Policy and Curriculum Policy took place.

Mattingly made a motion to approve the first reading and Peterson seconded the

motion.

5.  Student Achievement First round of MAP testing is complete. After taking the math test, one class completed

the test with no novice.

6.  Committee Reports a. The Reading committee is planning a family reading night.

b. The Math committee is writing a math grant.

c. Caldwell made a motion to approve these committees and Hutchins seconded the

motion.

7. Fundraiser FRYSC Reading for Education Fundraiser was discussed. The money will

will be used to purchase books/items for Family Night(s). Hutchins made a motion to

approve the fundraiser and Edlin seconded the motion.

8. Adjournment Caldwell made a motion to adjourn at 5:56 pm. Mattingly seconded the

motion.
