SPECIAL NOTES!!!!

GHC POTLUCKSUPPERSSTARTING NEXT WEEK

We will gather for our Fall season potluck suppers from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on each of the following choir nights:

Tuesday Oct. 27

Thursday Oct. 29
Monday Nov. 2

NOTE:On Monday it is especially important that you bring your own dishes, cutlery, and cup for ginger tea, as we don’t have access to the dishwasher.

These potlucks, held every season, are a tradition in the choir that allows us to get to know each other a little better.
Please bring a tasty dish to share and your own plate, cup and cutlery. An ingredients sign would be helpful for those with dietary considerations and perhaps a name label in case someone wants to get your recipe from you.
All choir members are welcome at all potlucks. Come and enjoy!

Editor’s Note:

For an advance look at lyrics for the grace(s) we tend to sing at potlucks (plus those for the choirs birthday song) please click on:

MICHAEL O SULLIVAN WORKSHOP

DIGITAL SONGS FOR CHOIR

If you'd like to be free of the 'big binder' and use tablet or iPad, you can have all your choir music available. Email Anne Nilsen (Tuesday Alto) at

MY SCHEDULE

If you have a payment to hand in and I am not there my preference is for you to hang onto it to give me the next time we are both at choir. If for any reason that is inconvenient (ie you’ll be away for a while or ???) you can give it to either Gloria or Shivon.

My planned Schedule for the next two weeks is:

Monday Oct. 26

Tuesday Oct. 27

Thursday Oct. 29

If you have questions to ask me or information to pass on to me then, as always, feel free to contact me at 250-920-4160 (9 to 9 daily)

At the Central Greater Victoria Library Courtyard, 735 Broughton St.

A Reminder...This is an Open SWAT at a public venue...If you will be in the Victoria area this Saturday you are invited to...

  • Sing with us if you know the songs, or can learn them in time, or to
  • Come to listen at 10:15 a.m. and visit with choir friends afterward.

Denis will lead us in singing:

  • An Invitation To Sing
  • Gaia / Another World Is Possible
  • Love Rescue Me
  • One Voice
  • Teach Your Children

We will be gathering in the Library Courtyard at 9:45 a.m. to get warmed up and do a quick run-through before we start singing at 10:15

Unfortunately we have not been able to go through them at choir but current members can refresh their memory with the practice files we have for them in our site's Current Singer Only section SWAT Repertoire List.

Those of you who want to sing in the SWAT but aren't registered for this season are welcome to contact me at to find out where you can access the files.

This SWAT is for two causes that we have been asked to support (and are delighted to do so) that coincidentally happen on the same day, Compassion Globally, an organization dedicated to the elimination of sexual violence against women, and World Singing Day, and initiative to get as many people singing globally as possible, especially on this dedicated day.
You can find more about them at these links:

“10 FOR 10”.....A MINI HOUSE CONCERT JUST FOR YOU!

Recently at the “The Folk” I met “Road Trip Boogie” a duo from Nova Scotia whose unique performance concept I recommend to you for gatherings of family and/or friends. In their words it’s a…

… mini house concert for those of you for whom the thought of organizing a full house concert is too daunting.

You invite 10 of your friends to an informal potluck, any evening of the week and everyone shares a meal. Pam and Liz share their road stories and after dinner they share 10 songs. The cost is just 10 dollars per person. 10 for 10!

************************************** QUOTE BREAK **************************************

Let's fess up to being the interfering creatures we are, indefatigably restless, easily

bored and fond of turning everything into amusement, fashion or toys. We Anthrops

can be lumbering, clumsy and immature. We're also easily distracted, soppy as a

hound dog's kiss and we hate picking up after ourselves. Without really meaning to,

we have nearly emptied the world's pantry, left all the taps running, torn the furniture,

strewn our old toys where they're becoming a menace, polluted and spilled and

generally messed up our planetary home

These days, startling though the thought is, we control our own legacy. We`re not

passive, we`re not helpless. We`re earth-movers. We can become Earth-restorers

choices....our mistakes are legion, but our imagination is immeasurable.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON

SACRED WRITING CIRCLES (Oct 25 + Nov 1, 8, etc.)

with Junie Swadron

What’s it about?

It’s walking to enjoy and observe our world. It’s writing to share from our hearts, it’s laughter, it’s friendship. It’s learning to stop judging our work, it’s sipping tea. It’s finding our voice andfeeling safeto speak our words out loud. It’s about being authentic and kind. It’s about music and moving our bodies during the break. It’s about creativity and it’s about catharsis – allowing the writing to become our wise teacher. It’s poetry and it’s prose. Short stories and drawings that we write from. It’s different every time!
