Welcome to Third Grade!

Mrs. Kelley Ebel

U.S. D. 207 651-6915 ext. 1223

Fort Leavenworth, Kansas

Email:

My name is Mrs. Kelley Ebel. Some students find it hard to pronounce my name, so to make it easy; I have adopted the "Eagle" mascot. When you say my name just think of Eagle and replace the "g" sound with a "b" sound and you will have it. I also chose the eagle mascot because it is one of our nation's symbols and represents the pride and freedom that we have in the U.S.A. (We are so blessed!)

I was a military spouse for a very long time . . . 28 years to be exact. My husband and I have 4 children: Brooke, Megan, Garrett and Seth. We retired 9 years ago and moved back to our hometown of Leavenworth, Kansas. My extended family lives in Leavenworth so I am enjoying being "home"!

This is my “9th” year at General Omar Nelson Bradley Elementary School. You will soon see that Bradley Elementary School is an "awesome" place to grow. Not only do we have a beautiful building with varying forms of technology, but we have a team that works to provide our military students with support and care so that each will be able to become an "independent learner" able to look to the future with anticipation of the new opportunities ahead.

This 2017- 2018 school year is going to be a good school year filled with fun, hard work and growth. . . I am looking forward to working with you throughout the academic year. It’s going to take a “TEAM” approach.

I look forward to adopting and adding the next brood of "Ebel's Eagles" into my homeroom.

School Hours: School hours are from 8:05-3:20. The doors will open at 7:55 and students will be allowed in at that time. Third graders line up at the north door of the school in the morning. In the evening, third graders will exit through the north door to walk. Car riders will be escorted to the parking lot at the south side or back of school building. If your child meets a sibling, they will need to have a meeting place outside. Students are not allowed to wait for siblings/friends inside the building or go pick them up at another classroom unless he/she is a kindergarten sibling.

Daily Planner/Agenda and Homework Folder: Your child will be bringing home a daily planner so you can see what we have done that day and what the homework assignments might be for that night. Your child will need to look at the planner to see what homework assignments or reminders they may have. This is a good place for notes between us as well. Please have your child check mark the planner as assignments are completed. Your child will also be bringing home a homework folder. This will have unfinished work, notes, or study sheets. Your child’s daily planner/agenda and homework folder will be taken home every day and should be returned each day signed by a parent where needed.

Birthday Treats and Invitations: You are welcome to send in treats for your child’s birthday. Please let me know ahead of time so I can plan accordingly. Birthday invitations cannot be passed out in the classroom unless there is one for each student. Balloon bouquets or flowers will not be delivered to classrooms. They will be kept in the office for the student to pick up after school.

Homework/Folder: The amount of homework each child will have will vary. Some homework assignments will be unfinished class work. Studying spelling words, reading, and math facts will also be part of homework time. Occasionally I will send home projects and activities. Students are required to read a minimum of 80 minutes per week. Daily minutes should be recorded in the student planner and must be signed and verified by you each night. If assignments are not turned in on time, I will send home a pink late slip to be returned the following day. This will keep you informed about your child’s daily work. Third graders should not have more than 45 minutes of homework at night.
