Collect
O God, your Son made himself known to his disciples in the breaking of bread. Open the eyes of our faith, that we may see him in his redeeming work, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Prayer over the Gifts
Creator of all, you wash away our sins in water, you give us new birth by the Spirit, and redeem us in the blood of Christ. As we celebrate the resurrection, renew your gift of life within us. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the risen Lord. Amen.
Prayer after Communion
Author of life divine, in the breaking of bread we know the risen Lord. Feed us always in these mysteries, that we may show your glory to all the world. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

VOICES OF HOPE - PWRDF
CANADA
In 2015, PWRDF met with The Anglican Church of Canada's National Indigenous Bishop, Mark McDonald. Together they undertook an exercise that showed the cost of basic necessities in the Arctic where a case of bottled water can cost over $100. (A necessity because many Aboriginal communities in Canada do not have access to safe drinking water). The bishop told a story of food in Indigenous culture- how permaculture was practiced and how hunting, fishing and the gathering of Manomin, the “good seed” which we know as wild rice, contributed to a healthy diet.
The introduction of western agricultural methods didn't allow for nomadic food gathering and food security declined dramatically. For Indigenous communities being able to hold on to their culture brings food security and food security means holding on to their culture. The two realities are interlinked. Indigenous communities need to have control over the food they eat. They are in need of food sovereignty.
These understandings will help PWRDF to see a way forward in working with
these communities to ensure that food security can be achieved.
