BARTLESVILLE PUBLIC SCHOOL FOUNDATION

Experts in Residence Program

Revised October 2015

The Experts in Residence program is designed to provide funding and to serve as a catalyst to initiate visits from a wide variety of experts. The visiting expert may work with the students in your classroom, spend a period of time in your building interacting with various groups of students, or meet with a larger group of students in an appropriate facility. The emphasis should always be on face to face interaction between the expert and the students. Visits should be curriculum related and focused on real issues. These suggestions are offered to enhance your chances of receiving approval for your requests:

* Demonstrate in what ways the expert’s visit will enrich your curriculum.

* Demonstrate that the project will reach as many students as realistically possible.

* Demonstrate that there are no other local resources available with which to conduct this learning experience.

* Demonstrate the benefit which the students will receive in career planning, skill development, or personal enrichment.

Non-funded requests may be resubmitted at a later date. Chances for approval are enhanced by not duplicating a program which has already been funded during the current school year.

After an expert has been selected to work with your students and you have the necessary preliminary information, you should complete the funding request form.

For additional information about the Grants Program or for assistance in completing an application, please contact the Foundation School Liaison at or 918-336-8600 ext. 1002

Please email applications to or send them via interschool mail to “ESC – BPS Foundation”.

Expert Grants are awarded monthly. All grant requests should be received by the 15th of each month at least two months prior to an event.

You will be notified of the status of your request following the Foundation board meeting on the first Wednesday of each month. If funding is approved, the teacher requesting the funds should then complete the district POs with Project 020 coding and a program code, and schedule and supervise the expert’s visit.

Payment to the expert will likely require a W-9 form be filed with the district to identify the person for tax purposes.
