Tasmanian Greens Materials Coordinator

Three months part time - 20 hours per week: $60,000 pa pro rata

The Tasmanian Greens are seeking a Materials Coordinator with strong organising and management skills to work on the 2016 Federal Election Campaign. This role will be focused on preparing the Party for the upcoming election.

We require a highly competent person who is committed to the Greens principles, processes and policies, has an eye for detail and demonstratesexcellent organisational skills. They will work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to help achieve outstanding electoral success.

The position will commence immediately and last for three months or until two weeks prior to the election, whichever comes sooner.

Key Tasks

  • Developing materials for use in campaigning, including Party and candidate merchandise, flyers, candidate promotional materials and digital content.
  • Working with candidates to develop messaging and personal brand.
  • Implementing and enforcing the style guide, developing templates for easy use and training volunteers in creating style guide-compliant materials.

Selection Criteria (Essential)

  1. Knowledge and experience using design software programs, in particular InDesign (Photoshop and GIMP would also be useful).
  2. Demonstrated and highly developed organisational skills, including time management, attention to detail, and the ability to work with shifting priorities in a time-critical context.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of the Australian Greens in the Australian political context and support for the Party’s principles, policies and decision making processes and detailed knowledge of Federal election issues and a sound understanding of the Australian political and electoral system.
  4. Strongself-managementskills demonstrated by high level experience managing high workloads including working within explicit budget requirements and financial expectations along with the ability to exercise sound political judgment and responsiveness to effectively re-prioritise work due to unplanned developments.
  5. Good understanding and skills in the use of databases, office productivity software, digital communication platforms and databases.
  6. Highly developed interpersonal skills, advanced written and spoken communication skills and the ability to be an effective team member.
  7. Experience in developing and providing training.

Relationship to others

The position reports to the Tasmanian Greens Federal Election Campaign Coordinator and will work closely with existing Tasmanian Greens and Senate office staff, Australian Greens campaign staff in addition to as well as local candidates and campaigns. The position formally reports to the Tasmanian Greens Limited Director.

The Materials Coordinator will work with the Party Treasurer and Election Coordinator to manage the election budget (the Party Treasurer and Election Coordinator are responsible for managing the budget).

The Materials Coordinator will work closely with the Campaign Manager to develop campaigning tools as necessary.

They will have the ability to be flexible and responsive to unexpected candidate requirements and prioritise competing demands.

Location

The position is to be based in the Tasmanian Greens office currently in Hobart, Tasmania.
