ADSAC Facilitator Skills Training

Program Purpose
This day-long workshop will concentrate on building a learning environment for adults that enables participates to provide training that is goal-directed, focused, and can be both measurable and outcome based. The class will be experiential, adult-focused and address issues of importance to the attendees.
Agenda Review
· Getting Started: Why are we here and what do each of us need to ensure that the day is worthwhile?
· Understanding how adults learn: Ways of Knowing and Learning Styles.
· Building value driven learning contracts: Asking the right questions.
· Steps in the change process, from letting go to initiating a new beginning.
· Tools for successful training.
Program Objectives
Participants completing the training shall be able to:
· Identify the learning differences between adults and children.
· Negotiate interest-based learning goals and problem solving.
· Implement techniques for value driven training and change contracts.
· Demonstrate how to run effective meetings, control the classroom, facilitate a learning environment, and ensure participant involvement in the learning.
Faculty
Kay Kelsey Gray, Ph.D. Kay Kelsey Gray is an organizational development specialist with Washington State University Extension at WSU Spokane. She has worked for WSU Extension since 1975. Her background encompasses over 25 years of experience with local government, and statewide associations for Washington’s cities, counties, and law enforcement agencies. In addition to providing statewide consultation for strategic management and planning, she also consults in the areas of staff development, change management, organization development, problem solving, mediation, conflict resolution, and the organization of public involvement programs. Gray’s work has been supported by grants from numerous extramural sources, including W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Northwest Area Foundation, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the U.S. Department of Justice. Gray has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the Washington State University, a Master of Science in Urban Planning from the University of Arizona, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Gonzaga University.
Seminar Fees
Participants are admitted at no charge. Registration to attend only a part of the training will not be accepted. Seminar fees for those who are not ADSAC facilitators in good standing will be $65.00.

How to Receive Your Certificate of Attendance
A maximum of six (6) hours of Continuing education credit will be offered to participants who complete the training. Certificates of attendance will be distributed on site upon completion of the training.
