Questions to ask yourself about your project:
Project name- Is the name of your project less than 15 words, clearly describes what the project will be doing and includes the discipline or field of study, if appropriate?
Project outcomes, rationale and approach
- Does your project express clear rationale and aims in relation to the context and characteristics of the institution(s) involved?
- Does your project clearly outline the approach the project will take?
- Does your project demonstrate how it will address one or more of the Leadership for Excellence in Learning and Teaching Program priorities?
- Is your project duration within the period allowed for the Priority Area selected?
- Does your project focus on leadership capacity-building to promote learning and teaching in higher education?
- Does your project reflect ALTC’s values of excellence, inclusiveness, diversity and collaboration, and its commitment to long-term, systemic change?
- Does your project have clearly articulated outcomes, and demonstrate how it will enhance learning and teaching through institutional leadership?
- Does your project have a strong theoretical framework (i.e. underpinned by a scholarly and evidence-based approach)?
- Does your project have a set of strategies which collectively are systematic, multi-level, and likely to build leadership for excellence in learning and teaching across the whole institution?
- Does your project have an approach that is in general alignment with the commitments of the ALTC (i.e. transparency, value for money, high impact and future looking)?
- Does your project have plans for the dissemination/embedding of the successful strategies and outcomes that are integrated within the project design?
- Does your project build upon previous ALTC funded projects (not compulsory but encouraged) or initiatives and ideas emerging within and outside Australia?
Value/ need for project
- Have you explained how your project, its outcomes and deliverables are useful to the higher education sector as a whole; or particular kinds of organisations within the sector?
- Have you outlined the endorsement and sponsorship of the UWS executive (if lead institution) and statement of institutional commitment (including in-kind or monetary commitment if implied or explicit in the proposal)?
Project management and budget (Full proposals)
- Is your project budget between $150,000 and $220,000?
- Does your project have a thorough approach to project management (including how you will establish a clear vision, clear goals, financial and staff management and evaluation strategies) and an evaluation framework?
- Is your project’s justification appropriate to the project outcomes and importance?
- Does your project include formal, independent evaluation (if project budget in excess of $150,000)?
- Does your project clearly outline the project collaborators, type of collaboration amongst organisations involved and their anticipated contributions (if a collaborative project)?
Before submission
- Is the project EOI or Proposal completed on the ALTC Grants Scheme Application Form as instructed on the ALTC website ‘Applying for a Grant’?
- Is your application written in 12 point font, of 3 A4 pages (EOIs) excluding references, Grants Scheme Application Form, PVC (Learning & Teaching) endorsement and project team information;
- Have you provided a one page (EOIs)/ 3 page (Full Proposals)attachment providing concise information on the qualifications and experience of the project leader(s) and key members of the project team?
- Does your project leader have significant intellectual responsibility for the project (20% time commitment) and does not have significant responsibility for >2 ALTC grant concurrently (unless approved by PVC/DVC)?
- Does your project proposal have the name and endorsement in writing of PVC (Learning and Teaching) of the lead (EOIs) or all collaborating institutions (Full proposals)?
