CHURCHES IN NEWCASTLE
Introduction
The city of Newcastle upon Tyne has a rich diversity of Christian Churches, in both the city centre and surrounding areas. Set out in this booklet is a list of churches which have been attended by students in the past or are situated in areas in which students reside. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch.
There is a simple service of Holy Communion held each Wednesday at 12.15pm at St Thomas’s, www.sttomsnewcastle.org.uk. Everyone is welcome to join us for this act of Christian worship. Plus, there are spaces set aside on each campus for individuals to think, pray, meditate or just to be. The Peace Room is located in room 408, Wynne-Jones Building, City Campus. The Quiet Room is room A109, Coach Lane Campus West.

Preaching aims to be thoughtful and thought-provoking and to engage with Scripture and contemporary culture. We enjoy a strong choral tradition, and new singers are always welcome in the choir. The church is committed to learning and we run a number of groups and courses to this effect. It is also, however, committed to enjoying faith and life and we have lots of opportunities to be involved in drama, social action and community support. St George’s is the kind of church where you can become actively involved if you want to, or where you can simply come and worship. We belong to Inclusive Church and it is an important part of our understanding of the gospel that we should value all people, including those from whom we are different ourselves.
