The Ford-Control 2K Saturday Club 2015/16

This Saturday Club willappeal to students (boysand girls!) who may be interested to find out more about a career in engineering. The course is not intended to support a particular aspect the school curriculum but students who complete the programme can qualify for the CREST Bronze or Silver Awards.

Successful applicants will follow a 12 week programme during which they will rotate through three modulesstudying Electrical, Mechanical and Control Systems Engineering.

Based at the Waterton Technology Centre in Bridgend, the programme offers a unique opportunity for students to develop valuable skills working alongside professional engineers in a £4m purpose-built training facility. Students who might be interested in pursuing a career in either electrical or mechanical engineering at any level, either vocational or academic, should be encouraged to apply.

Applications are invited from students in Years 10, 11 & 12.However, please note there are places for only 24 students on the programme.Application forms should therefore be returned very promptly.

Notes

  • The Saturday Club will run twice a year in both the autumn and spring terms of 2015 and 2016. The autumn programme will commence Saturday September 19th 2015and the spring course will begin sometime in January 2016. (Actual Date TBA)
  • The Club will run from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on each of the 12 Saturdays.
  • Applicants must complete an application form and will be required to attend a short informal interview and briefing at a date to be notified.
  • Although the Saturday Club itself will be free of charge, students will be expected to make their own transport arrangements to get to the Waterton Training Centre, Bridgend each Saturday and will be required to demonstrate their commitment by regular attendance.
  • Parental consent will of course be required but all activities have been risk-assessed in accordance with current Health and Safety regulations.
  • All students will be provided with appropriate protective clothing free-of-charge.
