JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Shop Manager - Kenilworth
HOURS OF WORK: 25 hours per week.
(Every Sat & variable hours in consultation with CEO to ensure that the shop is open Monday to Saturday 9:30 am – 5pm.)
USUAL PLACE OF WORK: GLOBAL CARE Charity Shop - Kenilworth
SALARY: starting salary of £7.50 ph
POSITION IN ORGANISATION: Shop Manager.
ACCOUNTABLE TO: CEO
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB: To undertake the general management of the shop operated by Global Care Volunteers, ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed, sales targets are met and excellent customer service maintained. To promote the aims and objectives of GLOBAL CARE Volunteers.
KEY TASKS:

· To be responsible for the day to day management of the shop, ensuring that it is run to comply with all Global Care Volunteers polices and ensuring set revenue targets are met.
· To be responsible for the effective recruitment, induction, management, development and training off all volunteers and paid staff in the shop, in conjunction with CEO or his representative.
· Ensure the necessary cover is maintained during opening times of the shop and provide personal cover during any shortfall.
· To promote high standards of customer care at all times and in all aspects of the shop management.
· To ensure effective management of stock.
· To ensure security procedures of all monies and stock are adhered to at all times and the correct monitoring procedures are in place.
· To ensure the appropriate and optimum pricing of goods in the shop at all times.
· To ensure a high standard of display, Merchandising and shop floor management.
· To be the designated Health & Safety Officer throughout the entire premises and outside areas that Global Care is responsible for.
· To actively promote the shop in the community.
· To ensure the building and shop equipment are appropriately maintained at all times.
· To attend managers meetings when required by the CEO.
· To complete all necessary paperwork and progress reports as specified by the CEO, ensuring they are updated on any issues affecting the shop.
· To be aware of and comply with Trading Standards legislation.
· To uphold the principles of Global Care and to work within Global Cares Equal Opportunities.
· To be aware of the work, aims and objectives of Global Care International, national, area and branch level.
· To provide relief cover to other shops where required to undertake any additional duties as necessary and within the overall scope of the post.
· To carry out the responsibilities of the post with the aim of promoting equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice in all aspects.

Essential Skills/Experiences
· Proven excellent customer service skills
· Good people skills, confident and willing to make contacts with the local community to promote donations, recruit volunteers &deal with customers
· A relevant retail background with experience of retail disciplines including presentation and pricing of stock, seasonal promotions in relevant product lines
· Commercially aware with an understanding of High St trends
· Basic knowledge of Health and Safety and Trading Standards legislation
· Well organized
· Supportive and inclusive management style
· The ability to motivate self and others
· Experience of working or volunteering in a charity shop or other retail outlet
· Experience of managing a team
· Flexible and responsive outlook to job
· Pays close attention to detail – especially with stock & sales
· Numerate and literate
Desirable Skills/Experiences
· Experience of supervising or managing colleagues or volunteers
· Experience of handling and banking cash
· Ability to recruit and train volunteers
· Experience in specialist field of stock (eg books, bric-a-brac, jewellery)
· Empathy with or interest in the work of Global care
· Some experience of online retail such as Ebay
· Knowledge and understanding of Charity retail sector
