Huntsville Utilities IFB 17-05
Sealed bids for a public work will be received by the Huntsville Electric Utility Board, a municipal public utility board created by the City of Huntsville, Alabama, at the office of Miranda Duke, Buying Agent, 112 Spragins Street, Huntsville, Alabama, 35801. Sealed packets may be mailed to Huntsville Utilities, Attn: Miranda Duke at P.O. Box 2048, Huntsville, Alabama 35804 or hand delivered to Huntsville Utilities, Attn: Miranda Duke at 112 Spragins Street, Huntsville, Alabama 35801 and will be received until 2:00 PM CDT on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at which time bids will be publicly opened in the Training Room. Any packets received after the specified time will not be considered. It is the sole responsibility of the Respondent(s) to assure timely delivery of their packets at the appropriated time.
Prospective Respondents may request a bid packet from Miranda Duke via electronic mail at . The plans and specifications for the project are on file for examination at Huntsville Utilities downtown office, 112 Spragins Street, Huntsville, Alabama 35801. Alternatively, the plans and specifications for the project can be obtained by request via electronic mail at .
Interested companies must attend the Mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 9 AM CDT. All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding $50,000.00 must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama 1975. Each bidder must show evidence of licensing by clearly displaying the license number issued to the bidding organization on the sealed envelope in which the bid is delivered. Only bids of such Contractors who are licensed by the State of Alabama prior to the date of the submission of their bid will be considered.
The public work consists of a fiber optic network of ~1,000 miles in (6) distribution areas to provide fiber accessibility throughout the City of Huntsville within Madison County. A small portion of the ~1,000 miles has been completed.This scope may include some work around the Hub building, such as splicing & terminating laterals.This project must be completed in all respects by August 31, 2019.
As a prerequisite for qualification, only those General Contractors who have performed similar type of work and have a successful record of substantial public construction experience within the last five (5) years need apply. Similar type work shall be defined as Respondent’s experience and past performance on projects of similar contract value, type, and capacity. A project amount of $30,000,000 has been estimated for this project; but the project amount may be exceeded.
A cashier's check or a bid bond payable to the City of Huntsville, Alabama, d/b/a/ Huntsville Utilities, for an amount of $50,000.00 will be required to accompany each Contractor's bid.
