The Poppy Project at Eaves was the first project in the UK to support female victims of trafficking. The project provides expert support and advocacy to women and girls who have been trafficked to and within the United Kingdom for the purposes of all forms of exploitation including for prostitution and other forms of sexual exploitation, domestic servitude, forced marriage, trafficking for criminal activities and forced labour.
Due to the receipt of funding awards from the European Commission, the Poppy Project is currently advertising the following vacancy
(Female) Anti Traffikcing Advocate – Outreach, Prisons and Immigration
Contract – to 14th June 2016 (Maternity cover) 35 hour week
Salary – SP 30-35 £28,770-£32,532 pa
You will:
- To identify, assess and assist female victims of trafficking who are in prison and/or Immigration Removal Centres (IRCs) throughout the UK
- To conduct thorough and detailed assessments on women in prison and IRCs
- To deliver an excellent outreach support service for female victims of trafficking who are in prison or IRCs centres by providing one to one support, signposting and advocacy
- To assist women in resolving problems and developing life skills through the provision of support and information.
- To assist trafficked women through the criminal justice system .
- To assist service users to exit prostitution, trafficking and other exploitative situations in a safe and positive way
You must have:
- Substantial experience of providing support to vulnerable women including caseworkexperience with women who have experienced violence
- An understanding of trafficking and how it affects women
- An understanding of the causes and realities of prostitution and trafficking and a commitment to developing effective responses
- Substantial knowledge of and experience working in prisons and/or Immigration Removal Centres
- Knowledge and awareness of the Criminal Justice System and legislation relating to it.
- Experience and knowledge of managing caseloads, (assessing need, assessing risk, planning implementing/accessing and evaluating care)
- Knowledge and awareness of relevant legislation, including immigration, asylum and trafficking
- Willingness to travel to UK destinations and be available to travel to prisons and detention centres at short notice as required
- OISC (or equivalent) level 2 or above preferred not essential.
