This Bible Watchman blows the trumpet and warns against the abominable sin of idolatry. The church today is giving little or no warnings on idolatry and that includes King James Bible believing churches.
Elijah is coming again during the great tribulation and he most surely will confront the false prophets and their idolatry once again as he did on Mt. Carmel. (Mal.4:5-6). Maybe he will proclaim again to the world, “How long halt ye between two opinions? If the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him” – (I Kings 18:21). He will oppose the false prophet who will make an image of the Beast and cause the whole world to worship his image under penalty of death- (Rev.13:14-15). There will be worldwide idolatry of one man, the Antichrist, just before the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ who will destroy idolatry on planet earth forever. (Is. 2:18) “And all the idols he shall utterly abolish.” (See also Micah 5:13- Zeph. 2:11- Zech.13:2) The day is coming soon when the Lord Jesus shall once more purify his temple and cast forth everything that defiles.
One of the prominent characteristics of true bible Christians, is imageless worship, or worshipping the true God in spirit and in the truth. If the church is to keep its’ worship pure, it must flee from idolatry- not just walk away from it, but run from it. Idolators all worship false gods, for the true God tells us over and over again in His written word that he hates idolatry. Idolatry is the distinguishing mark of all false religion.
Idolatry is the worship of idols or images of anything in heaven (like God or angels or the sun, moon, stars, etc.) or on the earth (people or animals or birds or reptiles, etc.) or in the waters (like fish or whales, etc.). Forbidden idolatry is all encompassing. It expressly forbids making an image of anything and forbids worshipping it. If you first of all didn’t make it, you couldn’t worship it and when you do, you have committed the grievous sin of idolatry. It is man making his own god and then worshipping it.
Most people presently on earth are idolators. There are one billion Roman Catholic idolators and 200 million Orthodox idolators. There are one billion
Moslem idolators who worship a black rock called the kaaba stone in Mecca and 800 million Hindu idolators. There are over 300 million Buddhist idolators and millions of other idolators of lesser religions worldwide.
But the most deceitful of all is the unsaved Christian who makes an image of the Lord Jesus Christ to worship as the Roman Catholics and the Orthodox Church does- in total defiance of God’s Holy Scriptures. They believe that the worship of the Lord and committing idolatry are perfectly compatible as the Jews did time after time in the Old Testament. The images are brought in as a pretense to help in the worship. Thus the glory due to God alone is given to a visible representation of him and God’s word proclaims in (Is.42:8) “I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”
Idolatry is the besetting sin of the Old Testament. It is the sin above all others that incurred the wrath of God upon Israel. God reproved them and chastised them and sent them into captivity because of idolatry and they are our example. And it will also bring down the wrath of God upon the idolatrous church of the end days called “Babylon the great, the mother of harlots and abominations of the earth”- (Rev.17).
In (Ezk.8:3) we see the “Image of Jealousy.” Idolators provoke the Lord to jealousy. Idolatry is spiritual adultery. It is being unfaithful with God and it makes God jealous as a man is jealous of his adulterous wife. “For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.” (Prov.6:34). And soon God’s fiery day of vengeance will come and the whole world will be devoured with the fire of his jealousy. (Zeph.1:18).
The natural unsaved man wants to worship with his senses. He wants a God he can touch and feel and see. Because he has never been saved and born again by the Holy Spirit, he is prone to worship in the flesh, instead of in spirit and truth by faith. A man is saved by faith in the preached word of God. “So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God” (Rom.10:12-17). Faith is defined by God in (Heb.11:1) “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”- NOT
SEEN, NOT SEEN. Faith does not come with outward eyes looking at idols. “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Cor.5:7) God wants you to see Jesus in every page of scripture. God doesn’t want an image made of Jesus and that’s why there is not one single description of what he looked like in all the bible. Faith is believing it when you read the bible or hear it preached. That’s the essence of faith – seeing with the eyes of faith. Physical sight is the opposite of true faith. God has given us a wordbook - not a picture book- Amen. Flee From Idolatry.
Idolatry is a plague that destroys true worship of God and true faith. Of all the sins, it is the most hated by God and the most deadly to man. It permeates the world and the U.S. and will end with the Beast, the Antichrist, and the worship of his image. Idolatry is a deadly satanic snare- beware of it.
It is propagated worldwide because Satan is behind it and giving his power to it and tempting men to do it. (I Cor.10:19-21) says that when they worshipped idols, they worshipped the devil behind the idols. It is written in (Duet.32:17) “They sacrificed unto devils, not to God.” Satan is behind all false worship and idolatry. And so we read of the last great idolatry in (Rev.13:4) “And they worshipped the Dragon which gave power unto the Beast: and they worshipped the Beast.” When the world worships Antichrist, they also worship the devil who is the power behind him.
I was brought up as a Roman Catholic until I got saved on March 17, 1972 and God took me out of Roman Catholic Darkness into his marvelous light. So I know first hand about Catholic idolatry. After I got saved, I checked my Catholic catechism book and found that the second commandment forbidding idolatry was removed. Surely that act of removing God’s word should speak plainly to all who desire the truth.
Catholicism is a gigantic system of church- worship, sacrament-worship, Mary-worship, saint-worship, image-worship, relic-worship and Pope-worship. It is a huge organized satanic system of idolatry. This watchman is blowing the trumpet and warning you to have no fellowship with them. Don’t be joined with the Mother of Harlots- don’t be joined with idols-
(Hos.4:17).
It is the height of spiritual blindness to have the protestants and evangelicals joining the idolatrous Roman Catholic harlot. “What? Know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? For two saith he shall be one flesh.” (1 Cor. 6:16). Becoming one is spelled ‘ecumenical.’ Have no communion or agreement with her. “And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God” – (2 Cor. 6:16). If you join with her, you shall soon commit idolatry with her as Solomon found out. - O Flee from idolatry. Hearken to the sound of the trumpet.
I’ve been dealing with religious idolatry so far and now I’d like to show you the recent combining together of the Catholic idolatry with the secular idolatry industry. Recently this ecumenism with the Catholic Church has taken a quantum leap forward with the movie ‘The Passion of the Christ.’ Evangelicals are buying huge chunks of tickets and reserving theatres and showing it in churches. It’s being promoted as one of the greatest evangelistic opportunities ever and even God’s born again saints are being snared into this abominable idolatry.
As secular visual images have been flooding the world for the last century and religious Catholic images have been flooding the world for centuries, people have became programmed to images. Movies, TV, and video images of Christ are accepted into Protestant and Evangelical churches. This idolatry has reached new heights in this Catholic movie by Mel Gibson. It is the ultimate image ever produced by the devices of man. (Acts 17:29).
At the beginning of the 20th century, man’s device, the camera, produced the deadliest image ever when it produced the first image that moved called ‘Motion Pictures.’ And then in 1927, with the movie ‘The Jazz Singer,’ we had the first ‘talking’ image. We now had a walking, talking image never seen on planet earth before. Now we have a walking, talking movie image of Christ that zeros right in on the cross and it’s the deadliest image of all. The secular image industry of Hollywood and the religious image industry of the Catholic Church have combined together for this movie.
With this Passion Play Movie, we see a melding together of Catholic idolators with the movie idols,
which was Satan’s plan from the beginning with Motion Pictures.
Mel Gibson, a Catholic idolator, makes a walking, talking image of Christ speaking the word of God. It is the ultimate Passion Play. We’ve gone from ‘Passion Plays’ to ‘Passion Movies’ that is reaching non-Catholics as well. It soon will be at its deadliest when it becomes a TV video and is shown in homes worldwide.
Just recently was Academy Award night. The Oscar night for the motion picture industry. It was held in the Kodak theatre in L.A. They had dozens of 20 ft. tall golden-hued images of Oscar ,that is the symbol of Hollywood. Yes, the secular image industry has their image of Oscar and it’s a fitting image of movie idols.
God has prophesied of the walking, talking image of the beast in (Rev.13:15) “And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.” (Now that is literally the deadliest image of all). Flee from idolatry.
Until just recently we had ‘dumb’ idols that could not speak. But the image of the beast does just that- it moves and talks like it’s alive. The devil’s idols are no longer ‘dumb’ but ‘smart’ idols and their words can ensnare you even more that in times past- and that makes them much more deadly. God will never sanction an image of Christ, especially a talking one- Never – Never – Never.
Throw them out of your house and church and your lives. Because secular images flash across the world on TV and computers and are found everywhere, so now we have a combining of the secular images with the religious images. And they are being accepted in churches and homes that don’t have the spiritual discernment to know that it is idolatry. Both blind leaders and blind followers are falling into the idolatry ditch. Don’t be deceived.
O Christians, you have been snared by Satan into idolatry by watching Hollywood movie idols in the
theatre and then on the idol box (TV) in your home. It has reached down deep in your soul and it has hypnotized and seduced you and destroyed your discernment concerning idolatry. You spend hours watching TV consuming all this filthy wickedness while God’s word shouts out in (Ps.101:3) “I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes.” And now you’re snared by it and you can’t get out because you’re addicted to it. Throw the Devil’s pulpit out of your house and your hearts. Don’t be a hypocrite and not go to movies in the theatre and yet watch them on your TV.
Cry out to the Lord Jesus with a repentant heart and he will break you of your Hollywood idolatry bondage. “And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.” (2 Tim.2:26).
(Col.3:5) says- “Covetousness, which is idolatry.” Worshipping the almighty dollar and not taking heed to ‘In God We Trust’ written on it. Coveting all the things that money can buy. This also goes along with the mark of the beast (666) on the forehead or right hand in order to buy or sell. This is the money idolatry snare and answers to the gold of the gold image. With the gold image we see both kinds of idolatry. We can also see this truth with Caesar’s image on money. 666 is also the number of gold in the bible in (1 Kings 10:14) “Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold.” Soon Satan’s double idolatry snare will snap shut on all idolators. – Flee from idolatry.
Are you saved and washed in the blood of God’s lamb, the Lord Jesus Christ? Are you conformed to the image of God’s son? He is the image of God (2 Cor.4:4). He is the image of the invisible God (Col.1:15). He is the express image of his person (Heb. 1:3). When you’re saved you have the image of God in you and you won’t need to commit idolatry. Reach out by faith and not by sight to the Lord Jesus and get born again and be ready for the rapture.
During the great tribulation the world will worship the image of Antichrist- not by faith, but by sight- in direct disobedience to God’s Word. This will be the
last emperor worship in history- the feet and toes of the empire image of (Dan.2). Then comes Emperor Jesus Christ to put down the pretender to the throne and rule the world as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. And he will abolish all idolatry on earth. And he will reign forever and ever.
If you want to be saved and to receive eternal life, “call upon the name of the Lord.” (Jesus)
First – Repent of your sins - turn away from your wicked ways.
Second – Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ in your heart.
Third – Confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ to others.
