Title of Post: Youth Project Co-ordinator (Full Time)

Salary: £26,000 p.a (6% pension contribution)

HOURS: 35 hours a week (Some weekend work)

BACKGROUND

Patiko Bakers Fort Project is a voluntary organisation existing to meet the needs of disadvantaged members of the community especially Young people and Women.

We are seeking a Youth Project Co-ordinator to support the delivery of our Roots Discovered Project, a project which aims to support young people in learning about their culture and increasing their understanding of their local community.

JOB PURPOSE

The post holder will support the delivery of our Roots Discovered Project, a culturally sensitive, quality intensive cultural awareness project which will support young people in accessing cultural activities, gaining relevant skills and increasing their community participation.

She/he will support the management committee, volunteers and sessional staff.

JOB OUTLINE

•Providing support to young people leading and delivering the project through one to one discussion and building relationships with and between young people

•Providing young people with relevant training to enable them to run the project effectively and in their way

•To support the identification of young people from the community especially those from refugee backgrounds, trafficked or living in care to access project

•To support the young people in the delivery of workshops and training and identification of natural skills young people posses.

•To work closely with other community organisations, helping them to support the young persons growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

1.  To work with young people, community groups and agencies to identify concerns and gaps in services for young people.

2.  To identify opportunities for training and development for Young people through working closely with the local community, and collaborating with the public, private and voluntary sectors in the area.

3.  To help plan and deliver a range of practical activities including workshops, trainings and events in the area of cultural awareness.

4.  Work with young people and groups to develop knowledge about local community and events.

5.  To work with young people and partners in developing a Cultural Awareness Toolkit.

6.  Assist in the development and completion of information systems including monitoring and evaluation of all activities

7.  To manage volunteers and sessional staff and keep track of their development.

8.  To implement mechanisms for effective monitoring and evaluation of the project outcomes so as to help measure impact of change at the end of the project

9.  Be innovative in project planning and management within our area of expertise by developing new ways of working to meet the needs of clients.

10. To be responsible for negotiating suitable venues, dates and required equipment to deliver workshops and to be responsible for producing and distributing a final timetable of services to be offered.

11. To be aware of issues of confidentiality, data protection, equal opportunities and cultural sensitivity when delivering the project
