JOB TITLE: LECTURER AND PROGRAMME MANAGER

JOB PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION
You will be responsible for taking a lead role in the development, management and delivery of our Arboriculture courses.
As Programme Manager you will be responsible for the following key tasks:
TEACHING, LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT
1. Deliver high quality teaching, learning and assessment
2. Prepare schemes of work, delivery plans, lesson plans, assessment plans and risk assessments to ensure a variety of teaching and assessing methods are adopted
3. Support learners to achieve their full potential
4. Provide subject and pastoral support to learners
5. Assess learners’ learning support needs and maximise the benefits of learning support interventions
6. Ensure the learning experience is varied, enjoyable and achieves primary and additional learning goals
7. Track and regularly report on learner progress for all qualification aims
8. Report absences and monitor student attendance
9. Administer examinations, assignments and other assessments as necessary
10. Carry out internal verification of assessment activity according to Curriculum needs
11. Supervise learners’ conduct and comply with health and safety procedures ensuring the welfare of the learners under your care
12. Be alert to and report all safeguarding matters including any suspicions’ or concerns; if in doubt share information
GENERAL
13. Attend and undertake associated and relevant training.
14. Participate in the College performance appraisal review scheme
15. Ensure health and safety policies and regulations are adhered to by all staff and students
16. Work to promote and contribute to the College’s Equal Opportunities policies
17. Contribute and promote safeguarding at all times, to ensure the safety and security of children, young people and vulnerable adults
18. Comply with the College Safeguarding Policy and procedure in addition to the safeguarding responsibilities within the scope of the role
19. Provide cover for absent colleagues as necessary to ensure timetabled classes are facilitated at all times
20. Participate in the College’s observation of teaching, learning and assessment scheme (OTLA)
21. Maintain effective and professional relationships with colleagues, parents, employers and other stakeholders
22. Participate in college events for example parent’s evenings, information events, open days, school careers’ events, awards ceremonies and employer engagement meetings
PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT
23. Co-ordinate the activity of your teaching team, organising communications and team meetings, ensuring all members including the Personal Learning Advisor, Employability Tutor, part time and support staff, participate in curriculum planning and development
24. Participate in learner recruitment and conduct student interviews ensuring “the right student on the right programme”
25. Fully engage with college activity designed to capture the “learner voice” for example, focus groups, questionnaires and student union
26. Maintain course files and other records for example course reviews, individual learning plans, and “offsite visit” forms
27. For all qualification aims, including maths and English, register learners with awarding bodies, use tracking systems to record and monitor learner progress and claim certification in a timely manner
28. Set and monitor realistic retention, achievement and attendance targets with your team leader
29. Organise Taster, Information Events and Open Days, enrolment and learner inductions as necessary
30. Ensure examination, assessment internal verification planning is effective relevant
31. Support Team Leads with the preparation and proof reading of public information for example prospectuses, college web site and other promotional literature
32. Prepare and monitor a course delivery plan to ensure all aspects of the “every child matters” agenda is fully embedded in to the course curriculum
33. Support the Team Lead with course review procedures are implemented to improve the learning experience for existing and future cohorts of learners
34. Ensure “personal evacuation and emergency plans” (PEEPS) are completed
35. Ensure “looked after children” (LAC) logs are completed and maintained
36. Liaise with Employability Tutor and monitor work experience placements, ensuring health and safety procurement standards (HASPS) documents are completed as necessary
