SATURDAY, AUGUST 12th FROM 9 A.M. TO 4 P.M.

LOCATION: Walton High School Theater

This Audition Workshop is a one-day intensive program intended to prepare young actors for successful auditioning. Each student will have a chance to improve in the areas of dance, voice, acting, and overall audition skills. This experience is incredibly beneficial for young actors, as well as rewarding and FUN! It will be run by Walton teacher/musical theater director Susan Griffin. Susan has directed countless musicals at Walton and in the community, attended University of the Arts in Philadelphia for Musical Theater, as well as Pebblebrook High School’s performing arts magnet program.

Registration/Payment (includes pizza lunch): Cash or check payable to Walton Drama Boosters

Early Bird discount ($50): By Friday August 11th. Please deposit form and payment in a labeled envelope in the designated box in Mrs. Green’s Room – 302.

Late Registration: ($60)- Forms and payment accepted at the door on the 12th.

WHAT TO PREPARE / WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU

  1. PLEASE PREPARE TWO TO THREEDIFFERENT 60-80 SECOND VOCAL SELECTIONS FROM BROADWAY MUSICALS (DIFFERENT STYLES, PLEASE). BRING CD BACKUP AND COPY OF LYRICS OR SHEET MUSIC—CD MUST BE instrumental only.
  2. PREPARE (MEMORIZE)A 60-90 SECOND MONOLOGUE SELECTION FROM ANY PLAY
  3. COME PREPARED TO MOVE. YOU WILL BE LEARNING A DANCE COMBINATION AND WILL NEED TO BE DRESSED APPROPRIATELY. (DANCE SHOES AND GEAR ARE NOT NECESSARY—TENNIS SHOES AND ACTIVE WEAR WILL WORK)
  4. THE ACTING PORTION OF THE WORKSHOP WILL INVOLVE A COLD READING. MAKE SURE YOU BRING A HIGHLIGHTER AND A PENCIL FOR THIS PORTION OF THE DAY. YOU WILL ALSO NEED A NOTEBOOK OF SOME SORT SO THAT YOU CAN JOT DOWN FEEDBACK AND TIPS.
  5. PIZZA LUNCH PROVIDED. PLEASE BRING A WATER BOTTLE AND SNACKS IF YOU WISH.
  6. MAKE SURE YOU GET A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP BEFORE YOU ATTEND THE WORKSHOP. YOU WILL NEED TO BE WELL-RESTED AND ENERGETIC. DO NOT BE LATE!!!!

WORKSHOP ATTENDANCE IS NOT MANDATORY IN ORDER TO BE CAST IN THE WHS MUSICAL! ALTERNATIVELY, PARTICIPATION IN THE WORKSHOP DOES NOT MEAN YOU WILL BE CAST IN THE MUSICAL, (BUT IT WILL HELP YOU IMPROVE YOUR AUDITION SKILLS SO THAT YOU HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF BEING CAST!)
