Grading: 60% Tests

40% Homework

Homework: Homework will be collected randomly. Everyday there will be a chance to receive extra credit. Homework is essential to make a good grade in this class.

Tests: Tests will be given after each Chapter. Most tests will be weighed on 100 pts. Some tests may be open book/notes. Any SUSPECTED cheating will result in a ZERO for that test.

Rules: Be respectful of each other. I will be available during 3rd period for extra instruction and by appointment. If you are absent it is your responsibility to get missed work and assignments from me. I will not take up late work unless I designate a make-up day. DO NOT COME TO CLASS UNPREPARED, IE: NO PENCIL,, NOTEBOOK, HOMEWORK. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO GO BACK TO YOUR LOCKER AND THAT ASSIGNMENT WILL BE A ZERO. The student handbook will answer most other concerns for tardies, and make up work. Math is a discipline that must be practiced to succeed in, you must work problems daily to be successful. Work hard, have fun, and have a great semester!!!!

Algebra II- The mathematics learning experience in Algebra 2 builds on the students prior experiences of functions in Algebra 1. Students in the course will develop a sophisticated mathematical understanding of the world around them as they interpret real-world phenomena through functions. They will persevere through problem-solving processes and communicate their procedures and results mathematically. Students will achieve procedural fluency resulting from conceptual understanding of the four major strands: Numbers and Operations, including complex numbers; Algebraic Reasoning and Algebra, solving nonlinear equations and using them to solve real-world problems; Functions, performing operations with functions, inverse functions, and interpreting characteristics of functions and their graphs; and Data and Probability. Algebra 2 is a springboard to upper level math course and career paths.
