Position summary

A high quality of claims handling is critical to Aviabel’s reputation and is a key differentiating point in the highly competitive insurance and reinsurance markets. The Claims Handler contributes directly to Aviabel’s performance in this area.

Aviabel’s Claims department handles claims from all over the world. The Claims Handler will focus specifically on claims relating to clients from the Benelux, France, Spain, Portugal and Turkey.

Upon joining, you will receive extensive on the job training in the area of aviation insurance and reinsurance and more specifically with regards to the handling of claims from our clients.

The Claims Handler will be responsible for the management and administration of new and outstanding claim files in cooperation with the Claims and Underwriting teams which includes the following tasks:

Q  Analyzing new and outstanding claims

Q  Ensuring the timely resolution of claims in coordination with internal and external parties

Q  Verifying and analyzing claims receipts and expert reports

Q  Initiating payment of claims

Q  Maintaining the claims files

Q  Ensuring overall satisfaction of the broker and client

Through his/her expertise, the Claims Handler also leads or contributes to projects of the Legal and Claims department, particularly within the area of compliance.

Law-firms

Ideal experience

·  Education: Master in Law

·  Career level: Minimum 5 years’ experience in a claims department (non-life) or in a relevant practice in a law firm

Experience in complex liability claims is desirable

Experience in compliance is a plus

·  Languages: Fluent – oral / written – in French, Dutch and English

Knowledge of any other language would be an asset

·  Functional knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite

·  Given our niche business in aviation insurance, an interest in the aviation world – or the willingness to learn about the sector – is required
