Lynchburg Regional Airport hosts TSA Preü® Temporary Enrollment Event
TSA’s PreCheck program will soon be available to applicants at the Lynchburg Regional Airport.
Residents of central Virginia will be able to enroll in the Transportation Security Administration’s popular TSA PreCheck application program inside the terminal at Lynchburg Regional Airport (LYH) during the week of December 12 through 16. Enrollment processing will be handled by TSA vendor MorphoTrust USA.
TSA PreCheck is an expedited screening program that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case, and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on in select TSA airport checkpoint screening lanes.
Travelers need only to make an appointment online and complete their application in person at the airport. The in-person interview process takes about 10 minutes. Appointments are being taken online now.
The enrollment center will be located in the airport’s main terminal conference room and will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday (Dec 12 - 14) and from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday (Dec 15 - 16). Walk-ins are also welcome. Lynchburg Regional Airport is located at 350 Terminal Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
The application fee is $85 and will be collected on-site at during the in-person interview. Enrollment is good for five years. The fee must be paid at the time of the appointment by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted. Enrollees must bring documentation verifying their identity and citizenship status.
More than 180 airports are participating in TSA Preü® nationwide and 19 airlines participate in the program including Aeromexico, Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Cape Air, Delta Air Lines, Etihad Airways, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue, Lufthansa, OneJet, Seaborne Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, United Airlines, Virgin America, and WestJet.
Per TSA, after completing enrollment, successful applicants will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) by U.S. mail within a few weeks. When booking airlines reservations, the enrollee should enter the provided KTN in the “Known Traveler Number” field. The KTN also can be added when booking reservations online via a participating airline website, via phone call to the airline reservation center, or with the travel management company making the reservations.
