Congratulations to Nestor and Sarah Solis on the birth of their son! All is well with Agustin Daniel and his parents. May there be many blessings on him and his family. He is the second grandchild for John and Erika Walker.

IOWA Testing will be going on at KNCS from Wednesday, April 23 through Tuesday, May 6. If possible, please do not schedule appointments for your children during the school day for that period so we can avoid having to schedule make-up testing in after-school hours. Thank you.

Choral Group deadline is tomorrow: Friday, April 4, is the deadline for joining the Kempton New Church choral group that is forming to sing at the Zion’s Lutheran Church benefit concert for Wellesley and Ian (May 4 at 3:00 p.m.). If you are interested in joining us to sing two or three songs, please contact me. Once the group comes together, we will meet weekly for practices until the event. Kindergarten Preview Day - April 30: The kindergarten class invites next year's kindergarten class (children age 5 by June 1) into the classroom for a tour and activity. Here is a chance for your future kindergartener to see what the classroom looks like and hear about the fun things that happen there. Please RSVP by April 10 if you have a child that would love to join us on that day. The kindergarten class and I would love to send them their own invitation with more details. Looking for hats: Do you have boy-sized army or camouflage hats we could use for the 3rd and 4th grade play, Rumpus in the Rainforest? We need nine for our Army Ants. They can be dropped off at Lamar’s classroom. Please label them for a sure return.

Handicapped Accessible Parking: We have three parking spaces for those with disabilities. Please do not park in these spaces unless you need to due to physical limitations. If you are dropping off food at the kitchen, please unload and then park below so we can keep the spaces free for those who need them. Thank you.

Lawns: Please avoid driving on the church and school lawns and fields. Parking along the edges is fine!

New Church Family Camp at Jacob’s Creek: July 27 – 30. Held in the mountains of western Pennsylvania, this is a “religious camp for all ages, [combining] a family vacation with an emphasis on the wonderful doctrines of the New Church.” This year’s theme is Life after Death. Glencairn Museum is offering two sessions of its Medieval Summer Camp: June 16 – 20 and June 23 – 27. Nine, ten, and eleven year olds are invited to celebrate medieval times by participating in activities such as cooking, crafts, boar hunts, sword play, and archery, and studying the religious art of the Middle Ages. Introductory Defensive Rifle and Pistol Class: Starting in April, Justin Hendricks and Aaron Asplundh will be offering a three-part introductory defensive firearms class open to anyone over 16 years of age. We have not determined dates at this time, but are looking to see the level of interest. We will run two evening classroom sessions of three hours each, plus one Saturday morning range session, for a total of 10 hours. Topics we will address include defensive mindset, weapons familiarization, safe firearms handling, shooting techniques, and weapons maintenance. We hope that people attending the course will be able to bring their own firearm, but we will make arrangements for borrowing/sharing as necessary. Cost will be $60 for the three sessions combined.
