Meet Cesar & Kilsy

Cesar and Kilsy Silva have been married for 13 years. They have 3 children, Stephany 11, Nathan 5 and Josiah 3. They are of Latin American descent - Cesar was born in Colombia South America and Kilsy is from the Dominican Republic. Cesar and Kilsy met each other in New York City while serving God doing local missions. Cesar has been a Christian for 30 years, having trusted Christ in 1986. Before Cesar went to the mission filed, he was in Team Missions training in Colombia, South America. After working in missions in Colombia, he went to London, England where he studied English and theology in International Bible Institute of London. Part of Cesar’s experience in London was participating in the church planting program of Kensington Temple, reaching Hispanic Immigrants in Europe. After serving in London Cesar returned to Colombia and was connected with the Haggai Institute. He had the opportunity in 2001 to attend their program in Maui, Hawaii for training in Advanced Leadership. After attending this program with Haggai, Cesar became a volunteer missionary in Jerusalem where he learned about sustainable communities in the kibbutz of Israel. Cesar later became a consultant in social development and worked for entities such as Open Doors who support the persecuted church and other Christian organizations. Cesar has a passion to help others in need and share the gospel in nonconventional ways, for this reason he opened a company with the purpose to import to the US sustainable products to support missions bringing them from places such as Africa and Central America.

Kilsy is a devoted mom and has a heart of compassion, desiring to serve others in need, especially people in vulnerable situations. She was born in the Dominican Republic and came to live in the states when she was 5 years old. She grew up in New York City and so has personal experience with the struggles and perils of a migrating family trying to make it in the United States. She has worked in many different fields gaining a variety of experiences, yet no matter where she works her heart is to help and serve others. Kilsey grew up, like many others of Latin descent, as a practicing Catholic. She was baptized and confirmed by the age of 16 years old but had no personal relationship with God. It was not till she turned 20 years old that she had a true conversion and was born again into the Christian faith. She has been a Christian for about 16 years. Since then she has done local missions with Cesar as well as overseas missions to South America and to the Dominican Republic. After the birth of their three children, she felt led to return to school and pursue a degree in psychology at Montreat College in human services. She plans on continuing her education to become a licensed counselor and use that as a platform to help people in need. Currently Kilsey works at Central Piedmont Community College. She is passionate about bringing social justice and supporting efforts where education is used as a means of furthering the progress of vulnerable societies around the world. The Silva’s settled in Charlotte in 2010, with the hopes of building their family and serving God in their local community. They joined St. Giles in2015 and have felt amongst family ever since.
