Young Singers Invited to Audition for Susquehanna Children’sYouth Chorales

The Susquehanna Choraleinvites young singers to audition for the2018-2019season of its Educational Outreach Program choirs:

Susquehanna Children’s Chorale(grades 4 – 8)

Susquehanna Youth Chorale (grade 9 – first year of college)

Susquehanna Young Women’sChorale (grade 9 – first year of college)

This program provides a positive, nurturing environment in which children and youth can develop their full potential as choral singers, and gain important music and life skills.

  • Sight-singing and vocal technique
  • Challenging repertoire representing a variety of musical eras and styles
  • Confidence, self-esteem, leadership skills, and a sense of accomplishment through performances
  • Valuable experience for students who want to pursue careers in music

Students representing 35 public and private schools, as well as homeschooled students, participate.

The season culminates in the Annual Youth Choral Festival on Sunday, Nov. 18, at Messiah College in Mechanicsburg. The intergenerational event features performances by the more than 200 voices of the Children’s, Youth, and Young Women’s Chorales, as well as the adults of the Susquehanna Chorale.

Auditions will be held in Camp Hill, by appointment only.

Rehearsals are held weekly on Tuesday evenings in Camp Hill, from late August to November.

Scholarships are available to help offset the cost of tuition.

The Susquehanna Chorale is a 35-voice adult chamber ensemble based in central Pennsylvania.

Its educational choirs are an integral part of its mission to enrich lives and communities through

choral music. The Susquehanna Chorale is ensemble-in-residence at Messiah College.

The Chorale is funded, in part, by the Cultural Enrichment Fund, the capital region’s united arts fund.
