APPENDIX A - POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO)
JOB TITLE: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
JOB STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Board of Directors
SUPERVISES: All Credit Union Employees
AUTHORITY/FUNCTION: The CEO of the Credit Union is responsible for implementing policies and decisions of the Board of Directors and for originating plans to implement such policies and decisions. The CEO is delegated full responsibility and general control over the administration of the Credit Union.
I. Duties and Responsibilities
A. Manage all the activities of the Credit Union office.
B Establish office procedures to use staff, time and facilities most efficiently. Conduct staff training and meetings to disseminate pertinent information and keep staff fully informed. Regulate the work flow and develop procedures to enable staff and members to enjoy the highest degree of competency and performance.
C. Supervise the office staff. Recommend hiring, promotion and terminating of staff to the Board of Directors for final approval and/or action.
D. Work closely with the Board of Directors and all committees on all aspects of the Credit Union's operations and keep them fully informed of Credit Union developments.
E. Implement the policies governing the operations of the Credit Union, as determined by its Directors, the Bylaws and all laws affecting the Credit Union.
F. Ensure accuracy of all financial, statistical and accounting records of the Credit Union. Constantly analyze the ratio of expenses to income to enable the Credit Union, while it performs its basic functions, to meet the obligations of the membership in terms of low cost loans and fair returns on dividends. Prepare timely and pertinent reports for the Board of Directors and committees.
G. Report delinquent loans to the Board of Directors and resolve problem loan situations.
H. Develop and recommend new services through the use of market research. Maintain an adequate degree of effective communications regarding existing Credit Union services with present and potential membership, staff, board and committees.
I. Evaluate programs related to member services, growth and investment. Conduct and perform research for the Board of Directors regarding personnel, savings practices, loan policies and insurance.
J. Ensure that all legal obligations of the Credit Union are met. This includes but is not limited to payment of taxes, maintaining sufficient insurance for all Credit Union liabilities and assets, maintaining compliance with all federal and state laws, and operating within the rights granted by the charter. Additionally, the CEO submits all information required by law to the appropriate government agencies.
K. Prepare and monitor the annual budget, and report budget status to the Board on a monthly basis.
L. Work with the Board of Directors to plan, organize and coordinate the Credit Union's annual meeting, including preparation of reports, promotion and program arrangements.

M. Assist in the development of good member and public relations with related organizations in and outside the immediate realm of the Credit Union. Contribute to the positive image of the Credit Union.
N. Implement Credit Union investments in accordance with Board policy. Safeguard funds and valuables in custody. Maintain fiscal solvency of the Credit Union and perform duties delegated by the Treasurer.
O. Maintain current copies of the policies and Bylaws for use by the Board of Directors.
P. Demonstrate commitment to the Credit Union Philosophy.
Q. Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
II. Qualifications
A. High School graduate with post-secondary college or vocational training in business administration, accounting or administrative office-related fields. Work experience may be substituted for post-secondary education.
B. Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible managerial, accounting or administrative experience which demonstrates the ability to serve as the principal officer; or minimum of 2 years of responsible experience in Credit Union operations.
C. Must possess an understanding of basic accounting procedures and good organizational skills, and demonstrate proactive leadership and team building skills.
