St. Patrick’s B.N.S., Hollypark
Mid-term: School will be closed on Thursday 15th February and Friday 16th February
Dear Parents,
The school is very busy at the moment and we’re all working hard on our February focus.
Positivity – hopefully you’re seeing upbeat positive boys. Some of our boys can get into a rut where they engage in negative self -thoughts and self talk. We’re encouraging positive self talk.
Yard Rules: If it’s not nice, don’t say it and if it’s not nice, don’t do it. This applies before school also.
Fruit and Veg –great efforts are being made by the boys to include veg in particular in the lunch box. We have a healthy lunch policy – please stick to this – for your son’s health.
FrásnaSeachtaine: LáFhéileVailintínshonaduit.
OurValentine Cake Sale, took place last Friday and there was great excitement. The boys were very organised with their baking and definitely followed the instruction of making the product look good so others would buy it. Our boys bought everything. Thanks to our wonderful Parents’ Association – chairperson Sarah Abbey, treasurer Siobhán May, the P.A. committee members and the many volunteer mums, who worked so hard to make the cake sale such a success. The raffle for the bike, the Leinster rugby tickets, the Lifestyle Sports voucher and three magnificent cakes was a highlight for the boys. Well done to Ross McMahon (2nd) who was thrilled to win the bike. More than 5,000 euros was raised on the day and that money will go towards building classrooms in St. Patrick’s Kawese, Kenya.
Our 2nd classes did great preparation for their First Confession, which took place yesterday evening in Foxrock Church at 6.30pm. It was a beautiful ceremony and we were so proud of the boys. Thanks to Fr. Frank and our chaplain Maeve Davidson. Thanks to the three teachers involved –Ms. Kilty, Ms. Feighan and Mr. Mitchell. Thanks to Ms. NíGhabhann, for her help with the music and for accompanying the boys at the ceremony. Thanks also to Mrs. Clarke for all her support with the teachers and boys.
Well done to Conor Rogers (4th)who won a gold medal at a chess tournament in Maynooth at the weekend. Good luck to Ajay Mullany (4th) who will take part in the musical ‘Oliver” in The Pavillion Theatre in Dun Laoghaire from 14th March.
Our 10 @10 took place this year on Monday12that 10.00am. Stamina and fitness is certainly improving. The boys themselves are really enjoying it too and it was great to have the whole school involved in the one activity at the same time. We plan to continue this everyday in school. When it comes to SeachtainnaGaeilge in March – your sons will be having the 10@10 as Gaeilge for homework every night for their fitness homework! Please see the 10@10 as Gaeilge on the back of this letter.
