For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1

Surprise! We had an early Spring! Cherry blossoms line the streets in March the daffodils, hyacinth, and forsythia in full bloom. What gives? In the northeastern part of the United States, we don’t usually see spring so early. We have certain expectations, based on historical data and personal experiences. However, the past winter with snow in October and golfing in February may cause us to rethink some of our own expectations. As the writer of Ecclesiastes reminds us, there is a season and time for every matter under heaven. What he does not tell us is that the season and time is not within our control. The season and time may not be something that makes sense to us. The season and time is not something we can schedule, predict or make plans around. And yet…human being spends decades thinking they can outdo God’s plans. We think we make sense out of chaos and confusion.

Easter for instance…surprise! Easter makes no sense in the human scheme of things. A man, Jesus, is beaten, crucified and He dies. That should have been the end of it. The authorities certainly thought that would solve it. Yet, it was a time and a season that no one really ever expected to happen. Jesus would not stay dead! His season was going to begin and it will never end. He lived and He died for human beings. His season goes on forever. The time to come and meet Him and be a follower is now.

We can certainly do without snow for a winter or two, but a season without Christ would never be acceptable! He Lives…Praise God!

Happy Easter Everyone,

Pastor Linda

The Quakertown Food Pantry

Serving God by serving those in need

(215) 536-0240

Canned Goods or Cash will be collected during Lent to help our neighbors at the Quakertown Food Pantry. Last year we collected over 300 canned goods. This year our goal is 400.

Can we do it?

Join the St. John’s Food Pantry Team

Every fourth Thursday of the month we will be volunteering at the Pantry from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. If you would like to join the ‘FOOD PANTRY TEAM’ speak with Pastor Linda.

Looking for willing Wheelers!

Are you willing to bring someone from Phoebe Richland to our worship services some Sundays? If you are willing to join in this important ministry speak to Dorothy Ewer. She will train you and get you all set up to make someone’s week better.

Due to rising costs of high quality flowers, St. John’s church council decided to use seasonal Silk flowers for worship, beginning June 3 2012. As in the past, the Congregation will still have the opportunity to sponsor flowers on their chosen date, in memory of loved ones, or to honor a special occasion beginning June 3, 2012. The cost of sponsorship will be only $10.00 per Sunday, instead of the current price of $34.50. The sponsorship dollars will be used to purchase and refresh silk arrangements. Should you desire a fresh arrangement for a particular occasion, you may order one from the florist and make arrangements for delivery and it will be placed on the altar along with the silk flowers. Church council sincerely hopes this will enhance our worship in Glory to God as well as help us be good stewards.

Included in your newsletter is an envelope for Building Improvement. As homes are always in need of repair and updates, the same is true for St. John’s church home. Your continued support of our building is appreciated. Building Improvement funds will be used for our current carpet project.

SPRING RUMMAGE SALE

AT BENNER HALL APRIL 19 & 20

9AM TO 6PM

Do you have any furniture, household items, that are no longer being used, clothing that you can’t wear, or toys your children no longer play with? If so, why not support the church by donating your used, saleable items to the Spring Rummage Sale?

The sale will be held at Benner Hall on April 19th and 20th from 9:00AM to 6:00PM. Your donations may be brought to the hall on Sunday, April 15 from noon until 5:00PM, or Monday (16th) and Tuesday (17th) from 8:00AM to 8:00PM.

As always, much help will be needed throughout the week. Men will be needed after church on Sunday to set up tables at the hall, transport items from the church, and pick up rummage. Men will also be needed at 5:30PM on Friday to pack up the remaining rummage when the truck comes.

Men and women will be needed to sort and price rummage on Sunday afternoon and all day on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and to staff the sale on Thursday and Friday. Any time you can help throughout the week will be appreciated.

Lunch will be available on Thursday and Friday and baked goods will be needed for both days.

If you are able to help or have any questions, please call Eleanor Fly at 215-536-8250 or
